I'm just getting lazy and building something with some scrap wood I have from other projects, then getting some felt or simple thick fabric to line it with.
Yipes! How am I going to store all this!?
This is a germancompanx, who makes storage bags and boxes, and foam inserts for all sorts of games. They started inlays for armada, and they are excellent.

What do you use for squadron storage, if I may ask?
I added a picture of how those Home Depot toll chests work on my local facebook page. Keep in mind that I have two because I have 2+ of each ship and expansion ![]()
The core box will hold a lot. Not quite everything, but a lot. I rebuilt mine to hold 4 small ships plus two Victories (not on the bases, of course, with a small tackle box for tokens, dice and small cards. There's a partitioned off fighter section, as well, leaving a perfectly sized slot for range ruler, maneuver tool, rule books, and such on top of the token tray. Sadly, it doesn't fit the Assault Frigate, and it may be tricky to fit 2 Corvettes, 2 Nebulons, and a Gladiator, but not impossible. Almost, but not quite, fitting one of each wave 1 ship. Of course, there's no way I'll get the Imperial Star Destroyer or an MC80 in there, so it's only a partial solution.

They do trays like this - https://www.feldherr.net/hsbe050bo-foam-tray-for-10-star-wars-x-wing-star-ships-with-base/a-51753/ - that will store 10 X-wing miniatures ships on the base - I imagine you'd be able to fit 10+ Armada squadrons in there.
Storage Picture would be excellent to see what people have.

Looking at that, I'm a little worried about the AF II bouncing around a bit and breaking the wings. Am I underestimating the strength of the models (X-Wing and Armada are my first miniatures games, and I've only been in for a month or so, so I've really no idea what's standard)?
Bought a Plano 732 3700 series box today at Walmart. $39.97, probably less than cheap Sabol foam would be for one of my regular miniatures bags. The trays are included with the box. 2 cores + wave 1 expansions, some with multiples. Still plenty of space for future waves and purchases.

Yeah, really not a concern actually. It fits just snug enough that I have zero fear about the wings. I actually just got back from a tournament where there were I think 7 of these boxes in use and only two of any other sort besides the several core set boxes.
I like the dewalt 10 compartment deep pro case. They interlock so you can have 1 or more cases. The trays are interchangeable. The lids open to 90 degrees. I chose not to keep the Ships on thier bases but with some foam or other protective material I can easily fit 2 VSD into one large bin. And so far it appears the GSD may be able to stack two deep in a small bin. The Assualt frigate should fit two into a large bin as well. Correvettes and Frigates easily fit into a small bin and could probably fit two or even three. I've put my range ruler and navigation tool in between two rows of bins.
With the ability to customize each I can see having Imperial cases and Rebel cases. I'm concerned about wave 2 with the large based ships possibly not fitting but there is still plenty of room in the large bins as I'm fitting 2 VSD into one at this time.
Finally your looking at about $20 for a single case you can pick up at your local HomeDepot.
I recently bought a Game Plus bag and foam from Miniature Market.
So far it has worked great. 21/2 foam fits all my imps and looks to fit the rebels too.

Is anyone considering the Wave 2 ships before finding a storage solution? It would be borderline tragic to have a great solution all worked out and have everything so neatly organized only to find the new ships won't fit at all.

This is what I was thinking. I'm not sure the ISD or Mon Cal will fit in those bigger trays on the bottom of the container CobaltWraith was talking about, but then again I haven't seen that container in person.

I did consider the wave 2 ships. The trays in the Dewalt solution I mentioned are removable. I can find other trays that are bigger. I am hoping the wave 2 ships will fit in the large bins as VSD'S have quite a bit of extra room.

Ah yes, looks like I missed that. It looks like it would work well, but I'm wary of cases that open like that because as I said previously the Stanley case's lid didn't close enough so some of the cardboard components slid between compartments. Does the Dewalt's lid bow or is it loose at all?
They use a heavy duty clip and the lid is a very hard plastic. I keep the components in plastic baggies still. They would slide around the compartment otherwise.

My executive secretary got me this for fathers day / bday...Totally bad azzzzzzzzzzzzzz...Going to see if it holds wave 1...Wave 2 is another hurdle lol...For now I am looking on how to store the cards...Looking at Ultra Pros butt unsure on the sheet size...
I've been having pretty good luck with my Battlefoam stuff. Pricey, but I really like the way it worked out. Battlefoam didn't do a dedicated tray for Wave I, but they did add ship shapes like the assault frigate, so that you can create your own custom foam.
I bought one of each of Wave I, so I custom designed a 3'' tray to hold my AF, Star Destroyer, and new squadrons, etc. I also added some additional rectanglular cut-outs to keep the growing stacks of cards and tokens, etc. It came out really well.
So, my plan is, a few weeks after Wave II finally drops (who knows?), I'll check with Battlefoam. I suspect they might, maybe, design a tray, but they probably will just incorpate the ship shapes of the Calamari and the ISD, and I'll just design my own.
Early on, I bought one of the 1520XL cases, so I have lot of room for foam expansion, and I love that it rolls like a suitcase.
So this works so darn well for the core and wave 1 that I've already had a few other guys in my area buy them once they saw mine. I've got one for each faction. The larger drawers hold 2 Vics or MK-IIs perfectly and do a good enough job that I have yet to even break an antenna. Those drawers will also hold up to 6 gladiators or so far 32 fighter stands, and everything from the upgrade cards to the tokens or even the CR 90 and Nebulon B can be organized in the top drawers. I'll post pics over the weekend if anyone is interested, but they make storing and playing much much easier.
I think 2 of these would do me just right. I have 2x Cores, 2x MK2's 1x VSD (not counting 2 from core) 2 sets of fighters (rebel and Imp) 4x GSD Right now I'm using Removable Compartment Organizer, Plano Double two sided Organizer
If I get 2 of these wonderful cases I can reuse the Removable Compartment case to house Home One.
Like other said I worry if the ISD will fit but heck I have an impossible time fitting the MK2's in anything they just sit out on stands.
Btw For those worried about breaking the VSD antenna. You can pull that antenna out. Just be very careful. 2 came out easy the 3rd did not so I just left it in. Put the antenna in a ziplock bag to keep up with them.

I'll second this one. There's a ton of space for all but the largest of your Wave 1-2 ships. I'm kind of thinking that the MC80 and the ISD will end up doubling as display pieces, like my epic x-wing ships....
Might I suggest this option for home storage?

Certainly very cheap in the UK and no doubt available in your own country. Right now I'm storing my ships in foam-lined metal containers, but a tall glass cabinet like this is so much more sensible. Every time you pull a Victory out of its foam bed, there's a steadily increasing chance you'll snap that bloody Ariel!
Here is my storage set up.
I can mix and match with my above idea, add in foam to hold ships like the ISD and MC80, tokens and such can be placed in the drawers, etc. Oh and it is super module
