Canadian Xwingers in Toronto?

By Gadge, in X-Wing Off-Topic

I'm flying over to Toronto to see family for just under two weeks at the end of this week.

Any good gaming shops in toronto (or for that matter army surplus./ militaria ones... and by that i mean genuine old kit not modern post 1990 gear)

I cant see me having much time for a game of xwing but might pack a three ship list in case there is a gaming night or event on in a store that way between the 16th and 28th of May

R2-EQ, he's local to Toronto. Also their is R5 Don 4 who has been playing x-wing for awhile. And you can try bubblepopmei as well.

I'll see who I can tag on this one (I'm local to Ottawa but I notice fellow Canadian x-wing players)

There is also a website the players have, it is called docking bay 416. I'll try and get the link for it:

www.dockingbay416.com (Toronto and area x-wing gamers)

I PM'd the 3 contacts that I know and I let them know about your request.

Welcome beyond the wall!

I recommend you join up with the Star Wars Gaming Ontario group on Facebook, but here's a highlight of the weekly drop-ins. By no means do I remember all the FLGS, so please forgive me fellow x-wingers.

BTW I insist you come to X Planet.

We're going to be around watersedge road, near port credit most the time. But also visiting friends and family in other areas,

Probably a few nights in hotels in the city so we can do a bit of nightlife but staying with family for the most part.

So we're in mississauga most the time i think

As far as Militaria gear, not so much. There is Fort York right downtown though, which was used to defend Canada in the War of 1812. Also the Royal Ontario Museum has a bunch of old stuff, not for sale of course, but it is old.

If none of that works out for you, you can also take your chances and just give a shout on our Facebook group.

Gadge,

I tried to PM you but your message inbox is full.

How did your Toronto trip go?

Did you play any X-wing?

See any of the sights?

had a great time. Didnt get any xxwing in but did go to the castle cafe and played zombies one evening

Pretty much did loads of tourist stuff like dinner at the CN tower, Niagara falls.

went to a lot of bars

did a lot of surplus shopping etc for my job.

Had a night out in Port Credit, went to Grimsby for a bit too.

Saw some war of 1812 battlefields

Tried Poutine, went to see one of my fave bands , Sebadoh, play at Leeds palace and meet them afterwards.

Met up with old mates to go shooting on the local range, i've not shot a firearm since leaving the army (swore i'd never fire one again but relented) and that was cool to know i can still shoot well.

Met a racoon

Found a tie pilot hoodie and boba fett shirt really cheap in 'hot topic' (it kind of gets mocked a lot so we went ironically but ended up buying Star Wars related clothes!)

My aunties got a really nice house with a hot tub and swimming pool and a launch onto the lake so i spent a fair bit of time mooching around there or taking the boat out on the lake.

It was really hot the whole time there and then the day we left there was a massive storm cant grumble with that.

Im still really wanting to move to Berlin if/when i leave the UK as its my fave place ever but as we've both got half our families in canada its a serious possibility we might emigrate when we're a bid older. I think i want my kids educated at my old school first as every guy on my side of the family goes there and its like *ancient* , founded in 1500.

But Canada really made an impression on me, i think i'd be happy there.
