Can Etahn A'baht's ability apply to other ships?

By Millennium Falsehood, in X-Wing

Try Et'han + VI + Sensor Jammers

Rookie Pilot x3

Why don't we up the ante a little, and exchange that VI for a Calculation? One more crit ;)

guess'll do the same thing I do for every rebel build

Ace + bsp + bsp + prototype

Eathn (sensors, ptl, r2 astro)

Blue Squadron

Blue Squadron

Prototype (Refit)

[Total: 98]

**** those 2 points are going to trigger my OCD hard

Just drop the Chardaan Refit, boom! 100 points!

Alternately, pop Autothrusters on to that Prototype or trade R2 up to R2-D2.

r2 --> r2-d2 is 3 points :(

will probably have to be auto-thrusters

or forgetting my refits at home :P

I have tried this but outmaneuver in my opion is better. When I use calculation. It doesn't proc for me. I always seem to roll focuses which I use my token for

As I outlined in another thread, I like Etahn with 3 rookie pilots. This might be a case where the X-Wing is preferable over the B-Wing and the Z-95. Attacking with 3 dice gives you a better chance of those crits actually finding their mark, and the dial of the X and E are very similar, making it easier to keep the bunch in formation (if you want that). And the cheaper X-Wing frees some points to make Etahn tougher or a less attractive target.

The cool thing about Etahn's ability is that it doesn't rely on formations. Both ships merely need to be able to target the same ship. In theory, this works with 2 Rebel ships at Range 5 from one another, and an Imp between both at Range 3 of either.

Your friend (if he means all the ships on the same side as Etahn

It applies to all friendly ships.

Nothing on the card limits it to friendly ships. In a 2 player/team game it is not possible to have a ship that isn't on Etahn's side attacking an enemy ship, but in a multi player free for all, Etahn is going to create all sorts of havoc because he will trigger when anybody attacks anybody but his side (and they meet his other conditions, of course).

So... It could get interesting if you have for example a free for all where everyone has brought Etahn in and are all ganging up on the same target.

A local player and friend of mine like to play with his own rebel swarm like an imperial would play a Howlrunner swarm:

Etahn A’baht (39)
E-Wing (32), R2 Astromech (1), Push the Limit (3), Advanced Sensors(3)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12) x 5
=99
This can be quite devastating. And unlike Howlrunner, Etahn is quite a hard nut to crack - and his ability appies ho himself, too!!!

Sure:

Went 4-2, but didn't make the cut

Here is a example of one game, since you asked(From memory):
Chirpy and Fel:
he moved fel behind chirpy, chirpy had that blasted count as an obstacle modification.
I have seen this before in a few game, Chirpy normally turns hard and cruises by the front taking range 3 pot shots, then Fel moves out of cover and flanks and dodges.
I always start in the center of the board when I see this formation, usually they start in corners and basically they only have one way to get around your flank.
Turn one he 3 hard or soft cannot remember Chirpy and hid fel behind him. I expected him to do something like that and figured if he slow played it I would get him on turn two. I went right for him 3 reds with the b's, but moved Etahn a little wider, so I could cut off fel. Since I started in the center of the board, I was on him at range 2 with the b's and 3 with Etahn. He took off some shields, even fel took some down, but I hit him hard with E and pulled off some shields, and gave him a stress with the stress bot.
Then the B fired their Manglers. First one took out all the rest of his shields, and gave him a stress, second one rolled 1 crit and 1 hit, or 2 crits with Etahn ability. First crit was Damaged Cockpit, drop pilot skill to 0, second crit, damaged sensor array. After one turn of shooting he had 3 stress was already down to hull, he couldn't activating isard due to the sensor crit.
Next turn, I moved the b's slight 1 green towards the direction he was facing. and E up 2 green bank. He moved fell out and tried to flank me, he got to my flank, but I was focused on the VT, so let him go.
He took off some shields from by e and his vt-49 took off some more.
My b's opened fired on the VT- still at range 2, this time with my E was still at range 3, I rolled 2 hits, 1 became a crit. The crit was weapon malfunction and another stress, then both b's fired I rolled 1 hit and 1 crit, which became two crits. I got 2 direct hits, and another stress, the other b rolled 3 hits and 2 became crits, One was Thrust control fire, the other was direct hit. Chirpy had 5 stress and almost no hull left, he moved fel in on the my E, I moved 3 green forward anticipating that move and clearing stress. Next turn the B's finished off chirpy and I k-turned putting fell after all his dodge in my arc. I took the shot and fel dodged all but one, thanks to outmaneuver, but I put an extra stress on him and crit. Damaged cockpit. He quit the game.
100-0 for me.
