As a new player, the only part of the forums you should be looking at is the pinned thread "Index of Useful Links", the Rules Questions sub and the Battle Reports sub. These three sections will help you the most at improving your game quickly.

You're welcome to read the main forums as you have been, but as a new player with a narrower frame of reference, it might be difficult to discern the idiocy from the insight and the hyperbole from the humorous. The main forums have a lot of all of these things.
