Can anyone help me get started with epic?

By George304, in X-Wing

My brother and I are trying to play epic, we play 100,150,200 pt games daily..

There seem to be several differences between the two formats..

Does anyone have a "quick guide" or some brief basic Need2Knows

I have both huge ships and everytime we seem to sit down to play we end up getting lost in the extensive rule changes and play a 200 pt game.

try moving the ship a little to learn its movement.

huge ship does movement and activation last.

shoots at regular PS

Don't put anything in front of a huge ship.

measuring which hull you can attack is kind of complicated. If in doubt, ust attack the closest one and stick to a casual play attitude. (bs way of saying i dont know how to explain it to you simply).

a question: if a CR attacks a Tie fighter at R4 does it get 4green (normal R3) or 5green? (R3 + 1).

The rule about attacking a huge ship is: measure a line between the center of the base of the ship attacking and the center of the base of the huge ship's section (fore or aft) that is going to be attacked. If that line crosses the blue line on the huge ship's token, the attack can't go.

Same thing goes for the primary weapon attacks of the huge ship. If the center-to-center line crosses the blue one, the huge ship can't attack the small ship.

I wish I could play one of you just once and ask questions as I go. POO

It used to be that for every range band beyond 2 adds 1 green dice but the latest FAQ changed that to only 1 green dice for ranges from 3 and beyond. So as of now the only difference between range 3 and 5 is which ship or secondary weapon can make attacks at that range. So a tie fighter defending at range 5 will have 4 defense dice (but still can be obstructed for 5 defense dice).
