R2 and Shield upgrade

By balindamood, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Newbie question of the day :

If I have a ship with R2D2 recovering shield and a shield upgradd for a ship without shield (oor even one with shields), will R2 recover the shield from the modification, or only the shields on the base ship?

It can recover up to the max shields for that ship, which would include the shield upgrade.

So a B-Wing has 6 shields, a X-Wing has 4, ect...

Shield and Hull upgrades change the base value of the ship, so you treated the printed number as if it included the upgrade.

It will recover the shield added from shield upgrade.

Darklighter just got even more annoying.

If Darklighter costs 33 points, I'm happy.

Just to note that both versions of R2D2 only affect the ship they are on. They cannot allow other ships to recover shields.

Also, each green maneuver only recovers one shield. Usually the incoming damage badly outpaces Artoo's shield recovery, so this usually isn't a good buy on Biggs.

Whenever I use R2-D2 I get a few shield regens from him in each game. Definitely not enough to make X-Wings immortal and hey, maybe there is a stronger astromech for them .. but I feel I get value from little R2-D2 each game.

His point was specifically that R2-D2 is a bad buy on Biggs, because he'll definitely be focus fired on and will likely die before he gets more than one, if any at all, uses of R2's ability.
