This deck was built with the purpose of recreating the scene in the Golden Hall where Aragorn shouts: GONDOR CALLS FOR AID! after the lighting of the Beacons and Théoden answers And Rohan Shall Answer.

This is a movie scene and arguably one of my favorites. That silence that Théoden throws in our face and then the eucatastrophic moment of 'And Rohan Shall Answer' + the voice of the actor is just great.

Anyway, any cool tips for this deck are welcome. It is completely lacking in the resource department other then the reduction Théoden brings. I probably overlooked some resource acceleration.

Further I included Legolas because he is there when Aragorn enters. Sadly, Gimli is a Leadership ally and Merry has no ally version yet or Gamling.

The combo Legolas - Arod - Nor Am I A Stranger - Charge of the Rohirrim really amused me, but it will be a lot of work to pull that one off.

This looks cool! I really like that scene in RotK too. Excited too see how Spirit Theoden is going to work. Not sure if you consider it un-thematic, but since Rohan relies on effects from characters leaving play, Horn of Gondor could help with the resource acceleration. Maybe the Rohirrim hear the horns of Gondor calling for aid and double their efforts as they draw near the battle?

Love the idea, love the theme. Certainly one of my favorite scenes as well. For gameplay though, I would see no reason not to replace Steed of the Mark with Unexpected Courage

Another trick I am quite fond of with Rohan is to put in a copy of Gleowine and get him usually via Mustering the Rohirrim. Eowyn's ability can drop him in the discard and then you can get him back with Stand and Fight. Otherwise card draw is very hard to come by.

Cool deck idea :) I'm surprised you don't have any West Road Travelers. 2 WP for 2 cost (or 1 with Theoden) is nice and their response effect comes in handy sometimes. I'm also surprised you don't have any Ride to Ruins in there. It's a good way to kill off Eomund when you need to, to give Eomer the boost, or to clear nasty locations. Lastly, I would take out the Nor Am I A Stranger. I know it's a fun combo, but you only have 2 copies of Legolas and 1 Arod, so the chances of getting the full 4-card combo are slim to none. I'd fill the extra slots with Unexpected Courage, Ride to Ruin, Guthlaf, or West Road Travelers.

Steed of the Mark can be fetched with the Horse Breeder. Plus it combos with Charge of the Rohirrim.

Although I agree it wouldn't hurt to put in a UC or two.

Steed of the Mark is there for Charge indeed. Not sure if I want to include UC, for thematic reasons mostly.

I considered Guthlaf, but decided against him.

I will add three copies of Mustering the Rohirrim for thematic reasona and remove Nor Am I A Stranger. Probably add in 1 copy of Horn. I might replace West Road Traveller for Eomund, because Eomund was already dead when this scene happened, but his response is really good. Also thinking of removing Arod.

Thanks or all the replies!

If I played one, I would take the Steed. I got bored with Courage. It is the one card that is surely a bad design -- in relation to other of the kind.

Legolas must be hard to put into play with only one Tactics hero. I would rather have Guthláf. He can be got with Mustering and played for 1 with the discount. Not bad for a guy who can actually survive an attack or two. Or just be killed to boost Éomer.

Up to Spirit Théoden I was not very fond of Éomund but now I will probably have three copies of him. For two resources you can quest with all three heroes (7 willpower), block with Éomund to be killed and you strike back with all the heroes (9 attack). Him and Háma are great in the deck. And they even make a card like Helm! Helm! worthwhile.

It's a Rohan deck after all. I wouldn't try to force that scene on it by including Legolas. I'm going to build it and try it by the way (without Legolas, but with Guflaf). I will take it solo into Helm's Deep.

Of course the deck is way more viable without Legolas and thus less thematic for my purpose to recreate the scene.

Viable options:

- add Guthlaf

- add UC

- add HoG

-remove Nor Stanger

- remove Arod

- remove Legolas

- remove light the Beacons

- add Musterinf the Rohirrim.

- add copies of certain cards to make it more consistent

Tell me how it went Bullroarer, I'm really interested!

I would not stray from the theme. Arod is thematic whether there be Legolas or not. It is not a bad card for Éomer (or Théoden). Not restricted even. Occasionally you may pull a Ride to Ruin combo. That card is great with Háma. You defend twice with him and then add three progress on a location -- and you're not losing any additional ally. I keep a copy of that and Helm! Helm! for both Háma and Éomund.

If you find it thematic, add Horn of Gondor. I don't have it in there (for my thematic views on the matter) but I am sure it works superbly in the deck. Recently, in 2-player games, Horn of Gondor was at least on par with Steward of Gondor.
