Yeah, let's please stay on topic for once. There's already been a ton of explosive SSD threads. We get it ... you want to see one, so would I. If you want to talk about the SSD, go post in that thread, please.
ISD VSD comparison
I'll bet good money that they will make the executor, or executioner, or whatever it's called. One way or the other, that ship will be a part of this game.
"I want that ship, not excuses."
1. Look how big the epic ships are in xwing compared to most of the ships.
2. Other games have done similar things. heroclix scarab for halo, imperial walker for Star Wars miniatures
3. If they make it, we will buy it.
Anyone care for a gentleman's wager on the matter?
All of your examples of huge game pieces didn't need to be bigger than the play area to make.
Even on a sliding scale, there comes a point when something becomes unplayable.
PLEASE, do not turn this into an SSD thread. This has been talked about over and over and over. Can we please stay on topic?
ISD and VSD only, please.
Back to topic, I'd like to see a comparison of the three star destroyers we definitely have: the Gladiator, Victory, and Imperial. I suppose when I get my pair of Gladiators I'll be able to tell, but it'd be nice to see all three together before Fall.

I imagine this is your best bet for that:
Is GenCon a venue that FFG uses for information releases a lot? I have a friend going there who says he was able to get ships for a wave of X-Wing early once and hope to do the same for Wave 2 of Armada.
If thats the case, we may get a really good look at the two together.
Seems reasonable, regarding the scale of the mon cal vs ISD

The title is ISD - VSD Comparison, so I think it's a good place to compare stats of VSD with spoilculations (spoilers + speculations, Duh!) about ISD.
We all know VSD is a great, tanky, shooty and expensive carrier. The question is: why to waste money (and more importantly ![]()
- fleet points!) on greater, tankier, shootier and more expensive slightly better carrier? Why to pay more, when all our needs can be met by the cheaper ship?
Honestly, I really doubt ISD will be the same ship as VSD, only slightly better in every way.
First of all, ISD will be safe investment of points, especially with Motti (14! Hull points, not counting the shields). Your enemies will likely choose to score points on objectives and other fleet assets and that's the reason why ISD will be the very best flagship and expensive upgrade cards platform in wave 2.
Secondly, we've got intel that ISD will be faster - probably she will have speed 3. The VSDs are slow and usually are used as area control weapons. With ISD you will actively hunt enemy ships instead of forcing them to get into your front firing arc.
Thirdly, the ISD has different upgrade slots. She has access to defensive retrofits and (probably) support teams but lacks ordnance and (probably) weapon teams. That means she will be able to take engine techs or nav team to further increase her mobility and/or manoeuvrability or she will retrofit Advanced Projectors to augment her tankyness (please note at least one ISD variant will have two redirect tokens). There are downsides too, however. Ordnance is not the best slot for VSD because the enemy will rarely get so close to let you use your black dice, but on the much faster ISD expanded launchers or ACMs would be priceless. The real problem for the ISD will be the lack of weapons team slot. Without a gunnery team you will have only one shot per turn with your terrifing forward armament (unless your opponent will choose your Advanced Gunnery objective card - and believe me - he won't) or without flight controllers your activated fighters won't be that powerful even despite the larger squadron capacity. Sure, you can use her as a bomber carrier but the Corruptor still will be better.
Finally, please note I didn't mention increased anti-squadron armament. That's because in my opinion ISD should spend its attacks on capital ships. You want anti-squadron ship? Get a Raider.
As long as my spoilculations are accurate VSD and ISD will have vastly different playstyles: VSD is an area control weapon and efficient carrier while ISD is safe point investment, active hunter, roaming the playmat alongside its sidekick, Demolisher.
God I hope it isn't faster...
That's too much power. Unless it still corners 1. In which case I'm ok.
We saw a picture of the full ship card somewhere (a distributor in Spain put a picture on Instagram), it was at a distance so you couldn't see the detail but the ISD had speed 3.

That sounds terrifying if it can pull off 45 degree turns without a movement token.

Also Darth looks to be 36 points.
Thanks and eep. It's faster and turns better than a VSD. This is bad news for my rebel ships.(Although explains the beginning of Episode IV a little better.

I'm glad they gave it Speed 3. That fits better with established canon and sets the ISD apart in some way, rather than it being just a bigger VSD.
ISDs are notorious for being fast. I mean, one of them was keeping pace with the Falcon after it escaped from the asteroid field.
VSD Is, on the other hand, are known for being sluggish as hell. VSD IIs were faster, but by that time, ISDs had already started being produced, so very few VSD IIs were ever built. In game, I guess they opted to just keep VSD IIs at speed 2 to keep it consistent with all other ships in not having two printed speeds.
Super Star Destroyer anyone?
That is awesome. And daunting... Where am I going to store that beast?
I picked up a Plano 732 for Armada and it looks to me that the ISD will fit in the top storage area in the lid.

Anybody could guess the height of the ISD comparing it with the VSD? I want to make a custom box but want to make it deep enough.
Those pictures are about 150 different types of interesting. I wonder where they were taken. Maybe the Star Wars Celebratio in Anahime (sp)?

I assume so since it's the socal group. I wasn't there saddly so I can't verify
Did you notice there were several pics of both the ISD and the MC-80 on the table? I think it gives a much clearer idea of the size of the ISD.

The MC-80 still feels too small imho, even though its size is accurate. Wish they had used a different scale for it so the rebels have a big and massive ship as well comparable to the ISD.
