what are your wishes for the next expansion and the future of the game?

By zwara81, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I know a lot have mentioned Jabba and map tiles for his palace and such, but an expansion with a storyline that includes his holdings on Nar Shadda would be pretty cool, even if it was a PART of the aforementioned Jabba's palace big box expansion...

I would actually rather this (being Jabba's Nar Shadda holdings). With the first two expansions I'm getting concerned that the game is just following the movies around which makes sense but is, imo, a wasted opportunity. Cloud City works because it's an area that was taken over by the empire and left unresolved but Jabba dies in Episode VI. Going to his palace before that means there's not really tension and going after is just clean up. Dealing with the power vaccum on Nar Shadda would be much more interesting to me.

This is a really, really good idea. Tattooine will obviously become more lawless with Jabba's death leaving a power vacuum. Great for some story opportunities.

I want to see a storm commando team that acts like the imperial player's own hero team. One good at melee, one support, one sniper, and the last as a jack of all trades.

Essentially the Star Wolf team from the old Star Fox games.

Sort of like The Bad Batch from TCW.

Jabba's Palace, is my most wished environment expansion right now. It have a lot of possibilities.

Yeah, I don't see the appeal in Jabba's palace etc. It sounds like people basically just want to replay the movies only with different characters doing different things. It's important to touch on things from the movies to keep it Star Wars, but let's tell our own stories in Imperial Assault, hmm?

Bespin or another tibanna gas mining facility.

Mustafar mining facility.

Imperial Heroes and a campaign tailored to them stopping the rebels.

Yavin 4 assault campaign for Imperials that takes place weeks after the Death Star destruction.

Things I'd like to see would be

-Campaign Book

-More Mission packs

-Mandalorians

-Bounty Hunter Missions, where the rebels are the targets

-Jawas and Droids, Jawas hunt for droids and parts

-Empire missions

-Bespin, battle for Han (try to save him from Boba Fett and Vader)

-Jabbas Palace or Nar Shadda, great setting for Bounty Hunter missions

-Rebel Missions without main Heros

-Endor, could have Scout Troopers, Ewoks, Rebel Soldiers, Speeder Bikes and New Hero Ewok, Han, Chewie and Leia. With Village and Bunder tiles

-Large Battle field Maps/ Tile lay outs

Characters I'd love to see

-Mandalorian Bounty Hunters

-Scout Troopers

-Boushh

-Jawas

-Lando

-Lobot

Hopefully Lando and Lobot will be showing up in the first small box expansion to come out after Return to Hoth. Lobot seems like an unlikely choice for the game, but he would be cool to have.

As unlikely as C-3PO?

I would say Lobot is much more unlikely than C-3PO. C-3PO is in 6 films and does things and is iconic. Lobot, while cool, and actually getting some "screentime" in the new Lando comic, is still just a background character who doesn't do much.

But if you think about it this is a combat game. The way they made 3PO fit in is ingenious. Lobot would be very easy to fit in. Make him a unique officer type character in the scum faction and add cloud city security 3-packs that complement him.

Oh there's certainly lots of neat things you could do with him. I just doubt he's a priority character. But FFG is known to surprise us so who knows. I'd love to have him.

I don't know where it would fit into the star wars lore, but I'd like some kind of mission where the rebels need to rescue someone. If the rebels win, he becomes an awesome Jedi Ally; If the rebels lose, he becomes an equally awesome deployable Sith Lord.

That would be an awesome concept and fits perfectly with most of Star Wars lore unfortunately IA is (at least so far) set in the time period where it doesn't fit.

That sounds awesome. Even more devious, have an agenda card, or a mission moment where that character turns to the dark side and switches sides on the Rebels. SURPRISE

That's how I picture Boba Fett, IG-88, etc. working in the all-Merc campaign I want them to make.

That would be particularly cool if it was semi-cooperative. Like the team members don't all earn the same amount of credits depending on who did what/screwed each other over etc.

You all have to work together, but you still have to act with your own self interest at the end of the day.

This sounds like a new game altogether (which I would totally play).

Leia, Lando, Obi-Wan, Emperor, Jawa

Where the heck is Leia!?!?!? Obi-Wan does not fit into the time line. The game takes place right after the first Death Star blows up. Mind you, I think a great expansion pack would be a set that take place DURING Episode IV. Playable Heroes could be Han, Luke, Leia, Obi-Wan, and Chewie. I love the idea of a bunch of Tattoine and Death Star missions!

Glad too see Leiah and Lando in the game!

Personally, I'm extremely disappointed that in both IA and Xwing that they are completely ignoring Kenobi, who is a staple character in the universe.

Time period be damned.

If we can have fictional characters and bounty hunters that were shown in 1 **** shot, we should have the option to to use kenobi.

If they stood exactly by the movies it would be 1 thing. But the fact that they use extended universe stuff and are really stretching outside the movies, it's just dumb no to include of the most popular characters in the universe.

Tell me the scene in episode 4 where they are trying to free Leia isn't perfectly suited for IA..

Ok, It isn't perfectly suited for IA.

1. That is what Han, Luke, etc did. Not what Diala, Fenn, Mak, and etc did. IA revolves around the players and their exploits in the Galactic Civil war, not the movies' heroes.

2. We already know how that whole mission ended. So it'd either be A) impossible for the Imperial Player to win or B) break one of the biggest scenes in Star Wars

I would like to a rancor , the emperor , ewoks , and dark troopers :)

The problem with Kenobi in we can only use him in time periods 1-2.

That makes no sense. The game comes with luke and Vader and you're going to suggest the named characters aren't a big part of this game? The game doesn't have to revolve around a character for them to be included.

We talk about character X not fitting in the time line yet we have 2 force sensitive characters, one with a lightsaber. How does that fit in the time line considering there was zero mention or other force sensitive characters.

Sure, let's stuff force sensitive characters in the game but let's make a big deal about characters that actually were part of the story.

Hey if were up to me we wouldnt have any Jedi heroes, Darth Vader or Royal Guards... And the tank and ATST would have a ton more HP.

EDIT: Plus I'd probably switch alot of the other named movie characters with EU characters. Its pretty silly when Han gets shot 8 times and then finally decides to retreat when the board is covered in imperial units so he can get frozen in carbonite later.

I wouldn't mind seeing female antagonists, may it be EU characters like Daala or completly new fictious ones.I like that the rebels have females, males, aliens, the whole spectrum but the Empire is missing it a bit. Sure, you can't look under the helmet of a stormtrooper but helmetless commanders are canon and characters like officers could'be easily female too, not to mention agents or hands like Mara Jade. In regards of enemy aliens, something like a female Falleen would be pretty cool.
