After two working days, the folks at 'b-game at arclight.co.jp' who are producing the Japanese Language version of the core set have not responded to my email inquiry as to whether they would ship to California. Also no information as to what the price might be.

Does anyone else have a connection which might be able to procure this cool product?

Hmm, sorry, but when is the japanese version of the game scheduled to be released ? I'ma french player living now in japan and I miss playing... And the english version doesn't seem easy to get here. At least, i got numerous complaints from RPG shops owners about FFG's customers service for professionals towards Japan...

Thats too bad, im sure alot of people would love to get there hands on a japanese version of the game (myself included). Keep us posted if you find anything.
