CR90 Repair Question

By GalaxyUC, in X-Wing

I traded for a sealed CR90. I was very pumped about this ship for a while. I traded Armada for this ship, only to discover that the rear hull dowel/female stand peg, is VERY crooked. It set listing to the left, while the front is straight, so the ship does not sit flat! It stands, but looks precarious. I don't blame the person that traded, as it was a sealed product...but what do I do now? Is there a way to fix this? I'm afraid if I try to move it I'm going to snap the dowel's end off. Is the a common problem? I think I might be screwed.

Post a picture if possible - it may be that it's been glued in the wrong position by accident

I did see someone with a Royal Guard Interceptor who's wings had been glued on facing backwards at one point, so mistakes do happen.

If it's faulty just contact FFG. I just received a replacedment Kath Scarlett pilot chit from them as the firing arcs on the one I purchased we're out of line. they sent me out a new one free of charge, and I received it within 9 days, which isn't bad really as I'm based in the UK so it was internationally shipped.

Yes, I believe it has been glued in the wrong position, but is there anyway to fix that without breaking the female dowel? I will contact FFG, but I don't have much hope because A.) I did not buy it, I traded for it on BGG, and B.) I have disposed of the box already before I mounted it.

The great thing about FFG costumer service is that they will replace their product regardless of how you got it unless they can prove you stole it (which I've never had them try to do to anything I've ever asked for from them, which includes several broken ships)

The down side is their service for replacements, in my experience, stops at the Decimator-sized ships and below. I had a friend get a Tantive out of a box with a snapped off engine, he contacted FFG customer service, they told him how to glue it back into place and apologized for not being able to replace such a large model, specifically because it was a larger model. They will likely do similar in this case.

If they can tell me how to fix it with my limited skills, I would be okay with that.

The models are usually glued together with superglue, which can be quite brittle so you might be able to salvage it,especiallyif it's been glued in a misaligned position.

Try gently wiggling the stand peg loose - if you can removeit you should be able to clean it off and glue it back again in the correct position.

I had a similar issue with both a Y-Wing (engine) and a TIE Phantom (wing), they were glued at an angle but a bit of patient wiggling worked them loose, and I was able to glue them back in the correct positions.
