I actually like the Phantom more after the change. The Sigmas are a great ship for the price now.
Does anyone play Phantoms anymore?
I still like them for the 4 red dice. They do cost a bit too much but only a bit really. They are basically 2 ties in a single ship, little better defensively when cloaked. I continue to use 1 over a double normal tie spot all day long. I was considering a tag team of whisper and echo but I just can't find the support adequate to accompany them. A naked decimator would have been awesome to plow the road but alas lol
Edited by LordFajubiI play Phantoms MORE now. Thanks to the change, I feel less like I'm beating on an unarmed opponent. I have to think more about what I'm doing, and that's more fun than the way Phantoms used to be.
Edited by danicusrexI man start flying mine more regularly.
I was awful with it before, most likely due to lack of practice.
Well although I own a couple I haven't used them because I don't use the strongest units on principle I may start now movements been changed.
Though ill use echo because I love her movements and all the options it gives.

Very good. I appreciate your attitudes.
Ontario Regionals featured 2 lists with Phantoms. Echo with the Admiral made it top 8 but were elimiated by Super Dash and Corran (which went on to win).
Over 50% of the lists were rebel, over 50% of those were a BBBB combination variant of some sort. 9 of the remaining where Dash/Corran.
Only 14 Imperial lists made it to the table and 9 of those were Admiral/Ace
Only 11 scum lists total for the day and only 1 in the top 8 - Dual Firespray Boba/Kath.
More details somewhere on this internet. Phantoms were mostly AWOL from Ontario Regionals, but turrets continue to be omnipresent.
After the change, I find I want to start using them.
Thinking about using three generics with Stygium Accelerators and Recon Specialists - yes, you're a Z-95, but a Z-95 with an unholy huge primary weapon and more tokens than anything on a small base has a right to.
I think you're right about using cloak more tactically. Actually staying cloaked clear into firing range (at least range 3, anyway) and then breaking to attack might work - I'd need a hell of a lot of practice, though.
I am still a massive fan of the phantom! Will always be a devastating ship in the right hands and continues to win me many games.
Tis a dainty little beast!
I was looking at some of the winning lists for regionals. Not one phantom. Still loaded with turrets.
The only phantom list that really stood out was in Martinsburg. Also I feel like intelligence agent is shaping up to be auto include, which means phantoms aren't played "differently" post Nerf, they're just trying to replicate their old tactics in a clearly less desirable way.
Maybe they were too dominant before, but I just can't figure out a cost effective way to use them now, which is a shame because they're a cool looking little ship. With phantoms out of the game they join defenders as another imperial ship we'll never see while turrets run wild. Maybe if turrets couldn't spend focus when firing out of arc...
Edited by SenatorLexI never played phantoms before the nerf- I play what's fun and usually what everyone else is playing isn't fun for me. (Non judgmental statement, I'm an x-wing hipster)
I've actually started looking at it now post-nerf. The ability to block off the delcoak then move. I think a few bsp"s with wingman could let you block and then k-turn behind, clear stress, slam the hapless brobrat and then still recloack. Rinse lather repeat
I like to play the generics a lot, and I did before the nerf. They're so fun to fly, and are great additions while not breaking the game.
Oddly enough the ship that the generic phantom had the most trouble with was the named Super Phantom.
