Shapeways Suggestion Thread

By FTS Gecko, in X-Wing

OK, so I've jumped back in to X-Wing Alliance, and almost immediately I've seen ships that I'd love to see in X-Wing.

More specifically, ships which don't even seem to be available out there even in the 3D printing market at the moment!

So I thought it might be fun to create a little wishlisting thread. What EU ships you you guys like to see models for?

You have an XQ5 Platfrom in my shapeways :D

My future for X-Wing are the Old Republic ships like the Defender Corvette, the D5 Mantis and the X70B Phantom amongst others. The ship called Halo from Clone Wars. ILH-KK Citadel cruiser. AEG-77 Vigo and the YV-330, YV-100, YU-410 and YG-4210.

Yes but it's for Armada...i want one for X-Wing, Mel!

That would be too huge!

Funnily enough, the Razor Fighter was one of the ships I was thinking about myself!

It's a pretty nifty looking fighter, and is literally the first ship that ends up shooting at you in X-Wing Alliance. **** those Viraxo!

Edit: following on from Fanbus' impressive cargo containers on the Shapeways Quality thread, what I would really like to see (I might be on my own here, though) would be more civilian/cargo/shipyard models which could be used as alternate obstacles in a game.

Like the modular Cargo Transport, for one:

Heavy lifter model at the front, engine block model at the back, and as many cargo containers as you want connected up in between.

Or the Cargo Ferry (again, one of the first unfriendly ships encountered in X-Wing Alliance)

It would at proper scale but something XQ5-ish with about 45-50cm side length would be epic in every sense of the word.

I want to see these for Scum and Villany

I have all of those. Love them. Fantastic miniatures. The Vaksai is better in person than it is online, the Kimogila detail is fantastic, and the Dunelizard is a beauty.

Let me quickly create another account to push my agenda of getting the SCT Scout Craft and the XQ platform :D

Easy one ^^

- Skipray Blastboat
- YT-2000 (With titel for Otana ^^)
- Chiss Clawcraft
- X1-Starwing
- SoroSuub 3000 (Titel for Lady Luck)
- Persuer Gunship (Titel titel for Slave II)
- Cloakshape for Scum&Villainy

I think you may be missing the point of the thread. Those ships are already available on Shapeways.

We're talking about EU ships which are as yet unavailable anywhere.

So what's the deal people? Any chance of any of those ships or space station becoming 3D printed reality and me going off to sneak them into my collection behind my gf's back? (Yeah right...)

I have a plethora of Space stations but they are not official, though they were intended to fit into the SW universe. Im redetailing them now to take into account the fact that im better at it than i was when i made them. Ill let people know incase there might be interest when they are done

From TIE Fighter / Alliance:

- Scout Craft

- IPV-1 System Patrol Craft

- Muurian Transport

- all TIE Experimentals

- Razor Fighter

- a friggin' XQ5 PLATFORM (just kidding...ok I'm not, I want one!)

- a Golan III (why not going totally crazy while we're at it)

Edit: with base peg slots pretty please :)

The Scout Craft and the IPV-1 seem too big to be done, I know I have bigger ships but that was before Shapeways changed their pricing system. I really dislike the Muurian Transport and the TIE Experimentals... The Razor Fighter is perfectly doable and I might do it one day.

Not too familiar with the shape ways scene, but what about the Twilight, Anakins freighter or the Tie Dive Bomber, not sure it'd it's an EU craft or not but I remember the toy when I was a kid!

OK not from X-Wing Alliance but I would love a TIE Aggressor, it looks like a WW2 style two seat torpedo or dive bomber but still has the Imperial TIE feel. It has unique features like a rear fire arc that should be able to fire as well as the pilot's forward lasers. Also it is highly unlikely that FFG will make one (but it would be cool if they did!)

Big ships and space stations just aren't really feasible. Not currently, perhaps in a few years when printing costs come down.

The problem is that all of this stuff is extremely niche even within the game itself. It's not like cargo containers, asteroids, or the Senator Shuttle that actually have a game role. A lot of the unofficial ships have a very small market. This makes it really difficult to make any sort of return on large space stations and ships that are even in less demand :(

Another one would be the Mynock from the Legends comic series, great representation of a scummy ship

GHTROC 720. I would buy one in a heartbeat.

The Space Turtle?!? To each his own, I guess.

Hey, I want a Ghtroc, too! :D Also, I want the Sorosuub Nesst-class, SFS Corona-class, and the Nyubba-class cargo barge.

Regarding the XQ-(X) platform, I'd get a smaller-scale version (say 18" in diameter) if it were available in piecemeal.

Hell yeah the Space Turtle! I have been playing SW RPGs for about 15 years and nearly every group has a GHTROC 720 at one time or another. My current group is flying around in one which is why I would particularly love to have a model for it now.

Totally. They're a very capable transport, and from memory could carry more than the YT-1300 could.
