Imperial Raider: How many are you buying? Why are you buying?

By SpikeSpiegel, in X-Wing

I know most of us are only buying it for the Advanced fix, a lot of us are buying it for the Epic play, and some of us are buying it because they want to have it, and some of us are just gonna say screw it and find the TIE fixes online...

But then there's people like me who plan on getting 3. Simple answer? Because I can.

Not simple answer? I want one to stand stock, un-modified, the glory of the Galactic Empire right out of the box as is. My second one will be to get another TIE Advanced repaint and another Raider to paint decloaking with nice chrome finishes between the lightning-esque process. And the third one, honestly, I plan on picking it up from someone chucking the Raider on its own because they only want the Advanced fixes and I know I might be able to score a Raider model for maybe $50-60, that one will probably be fashioned with the Bloodstripe to go along with Soontir and friends.

So, how many are you buying? Why are you buying them? And if you plan on chucking the Raider after getting the Advanced fixes and pilots, why are you so cold blooded and unloving to your plastic crack?

Just 1 because money

1 for Epic Play but this little Devil sitting on my shoulder keeps whispering... two... two... two...

I'm only planning to get one, and not immediately. I'll be getting it mostly for Team Epic, either to play myself or for a friend to play against me since I'm usually a rebel player.

No Huge Ships yet, I focus on deploting squads of small ships, and got only one of each large ones.

This December I will purchase two Armada cores plus one blister of each product. So I save my money.

Then play Armada, purchase more ships, and in Summer 2016 i will buy all the x wing Huge ships

So far I have invested in x wing aprox 1200$ in 5 months, so better wait till armada wave 2 is complete

I will buy Raider to play scenarios and friendly Epic games. Not interested in X1 title because we fixed the Advanced time ago, Red 3 primary attack, 3 pts more expensive. No need of more fixes

Poor discarded Raiders. =( So unloved.

I'm getting at least one to give an "engine upgrade" (read: putting lights in the model).

1 because really why would you need more?

Go say what you want about FFG putting their Tie Advanced fix in a $90 expansion pack, it is no diffrence from the criticism of the C-3PO upgrade. But at least they have the decency to give you enough upgrades to fix a full 100 point Tie Advanced squadron.

Now I might not really go for a full 4 ship Tie advanced squadron once I have the raider, but I will say playing epic is rather pointless as the only huge ships available are for the Rebel faction and it is rather a bit of a red herring or white elephant when it comes to Epic play and power balance. Epic ships just don't bring that much power when comparing it to say 8 Tie Fighters or 8 Headhunters. To be honest I wonder if any math-wingers have crunched the jousting value and if that jousting value would demand more than 300%? I hope the raider fares better so that building a CR-90 to fight big ships might be a paper to the rock that crushes scissors.

One because I need the opposition to the CR90 for massive games. I am with Marinealver however as often find that a huge ship is not worth the points compared to a mass fun of smaller ships, however, I want to see 2 huge slug it out with fighters flitting around them both. Why wouldn't you?

I will be getting 1 (one).

If I played Epic all the time, sure I would get two but since that isn't happening 1 is plenty.

Expected cost in pts, given a médium range upgrade load?

My Imperial enemy is getting 1, mostly for the Advanced Fix, but partly to have a huge ship if we ever want to have a game of epic. He also keeps going on about the Emperor crew card.

I think the ship looks great and who knows I might be tempted to get one in the future for the cards and ships.

1 .. I'm tempted to get a second transport though..

Just 1.

Why? Now we can have true Epic play and it fixes the TIE Adv. at the same time.

None, unless I win the lottery or something.

Not really interested in the Raider itself. And I hate the fact that a useful upgrade to another ship is "hidden" in a 80€ box. Boo!

I'll just be getting the cards online. Buying a ship I don't want because it's bundled with cards I do is just silly.

1. Epic games only deserve that title if there are at least 2 huge ships on the table. Rebel opponent has them. Imperials will too. Two very big ships slowly moving past each other, exchanging fire, as squadrons of fighters rush between them, dive below them, fly over them or are crushed under them. Don't care about balance, although that should be alright if both use a huge ship. Don't care about who wins or loses. But it will look amazing. At last.

One because we don't know the epic points cost, it'll probably be three so you can't use two anyway.

I am looking forward to advanced fixes but I also really like that raider.

Raider to decorate empty spot at work. Advanced because they're the best.

The Raider is actually the first huge ship I've really wanted for its own merits, even without the TIE Advanced fix; I'm excited about flying it against my friend's CR-90 for truly Epic play. Because of money, I've only pre-ordered one, but I like the suggestion of picking up an extra ship that's been discarded after it was stripped of upgrade cards, 'cause I'd also like to try painting it.

I love my plastic crack!

One. For the Adv. Upgrades and the Raider. Like the whole package.

I still think its very questionable to put the small ships into the Epic packages. For this release it doesn't matter to me beacuse i want to get the Raider anyway, but i don't like that they are doing it.

+1 to what Hobo said. I like the look of the raider. Its unique and new to the fluff, which lends it an appeal of its own. I like the way the advance has been improved too and getting both is worth the asking price IMO.

I've liked the gun-metal blue feel of the paint job on the Advanced ever since my brother had the ol' Hasbro (Kenner?) toy, so I'm excited about the alternate paint job on the included small ship in this package. The X-wing in the GR-75 is "Meh," IMO, but to each his/her own.

It might be nice, but as a customer that still doesn't justify that im only able to buy it with an epic ship for a huge pricetag.

Getting 2. Because I can.
