Bigger Monthly Packs

By jcikal, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

I and a whole bunch of other people at our gathering group absolutely LOVE Game of Thrones. Some of us are wondering if FFG can entertain the possibility of increasing the unique card count of the packs from 20 to say 40. Right now at 20 cards per month, we're talking about 240 new cards per year (assuming there are no reprints from the CCG) which some find to be a small amount of cards as compared to other CCGs out there with 500+ cards per year.

We were all giddy when the new 60 and 120 card expansions were mentioned to be released this year, but wish it could happen every year. Any chance of increasing the card count?????

Probably not. Part of the whole LCG concept is fewer new cards in a one-year period than a CCG. A constant, but slowly, evolving card pool. A comparison to how many new cards "other CCGs out there" add in a year isn't really the right way to go because the LCG model is purposefully a different concept from CCGs.

The production schedule probably wouldn't work as well if you doubled the number of cards, either, so I doubt FFG would be able to keep up the monthly release schedule if a cycle of Chapter Packs was 240 cards instead of 120. That would essentially be a base set every 5-6 months.

That said, there is some speculation, at least on the part of the fans, that expansions should continue each year. I think the thing most often requested is the inclusion of some of the other Houses that play prominantly in the books/Westeros, most frequently mentioned was Arryn and Tyrell, with smaller factions of the Nights Watch and Brotherhood coming in next. Whether FFG does this, and if it does chooses these ideas to fulfill it is anyone's guess.
