Han and Luk test run result.

By TheArtfulDodger, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So the other day I asked for some advice for the list I am thinking about taking to regionals.

The list I decided to test run is:

Han/predator/3PO/gunner/engine/falcon 62 points

Luke/lone wolf/R2/engine 38

So I played 3 games.

The first was against Dash and Chewy, I won that 100-0

Second was against Kirk and fett this game I lost by 1 hull point.

The last game was against Fett, howl and a mini swarm, also 100-0 win.

This would have easily been 3 wins how ever I made 1 tiny mistake during the second game, clipping a debris field, giving me a crit that reduce my agility to 0, and a stress causing a double stress from reble captive. If I was to find myself in this position again I would just take one on the chin and not attack that round to clear that stress and keep my evades up.

Apart from that I was really happy with the way Luke played, easily the man of the match in all 3 games. I was also really happy the way I delt with Han and stress, for the lost part I was able to manage it well. The problem was the double stress and the loss of agility in the late game left me without any defence at all. No 3PO guess, no flacon token, no dice, that being said he only had 1 hull point left as well so it was blood close.

So at this stage I think this is my list for regionals, just needs a few more test runs

Glad to hear it did well. Luke can be a bugger to kill as long as you don't fly him straight into a million guns.

Having said that, I read a post in Battle Report section of someone using 38 point Psycho Tycho along with that same Han build. Tycho has less firepower than Luke (although he has a nasty proton rocket), but can be even more difficult to kill due to his crazy manoeuvres to avoid fire arcs and stay at a range you can easily dictate.

Regardless, this type of build is a bit low on firepower----certain lists could be really rough matchups (I'm speaking theoretically here since I haven't really tried this out yet).

I have a very similar list I haven't gotten to test yet I like to call "Heroes of the Rebellion".

I think I'd like to pull Predator off of Han and add -D2 to Luke's astromech.

I know how Predator would give you the option of rerolling one, or two, dice instead of using Han's full ability but that is still an ability Han has and you have Gunner there to try again. The change may cost Luke some extra green maneuvers but recharging shields shouldn't be discounted.

He already has R2-D2, he just didn't type it all out.

Could be as I didn't double check the points but saying R2 is really confusing as it is a perfectly valid option even if you really mean R2D2. I also see no mention of recharging Luke's shield so when it say R2 I take it to mean R2 unless there is something obviously contradicting that.

Yeah sorry its R2-D2

Or you could deduce from Luke's 38 point cost that he spent 4 points on the astromech.

You know, whichever.

Although who knows what they typo actually is. Did the fingers slip up and hit 38 instead of 35 which is equally as valid although it leaves the squad short on points. One may also slip up on the cost of some of the other upgrades; it is conceivable that someone would think Lone Wolf is a 3 point upgrade which would mentally leave only 3 points for that Astromech or make some other basic error.

I'm just trying to point out that if you are going to post squadrons it would be best to actually list the things out especially when a shorthand notation, like saying R2 instead of R2D2, can also represent a perfectly valid piece. The better information presented with a question the better the answer.

Thanks Steven you have made you point.
