I never tried him, but a lot has changed since he was new.
Any got a good build that makes him worth using?
Not talking tourney winner here.

He still can't get an EPT and costs 2 points more than a generic with the same PS that gets one, so no.
If you want to run him bring Jendon, an OGP with Fleet Officer, or someone with Squad Leader, so that he can modify his attacks.
FFG really needs to errata him (and the other named Interceptors) an EPT slot.

Keep the Shuttle between the enemy and the rest of your ships and give focus tokens to Kanos and Brath until the Shuttle pops. The shuttle is beefy but I imagine that most people will target it first instead of taking shots at ships that are getting four or five green dice. Brath has Lone Wolf because I didn't have the points for Predator and I image that he'll end up being the last ship on the board more often than not.
Edited by WWHSDI suspect that Kir Kanos would see a lot play if he could fight on the side of the Rebels like he did in Crimson Empire. Between Katarn, Garvin, Lando, Cracken, and Dutch it would be easy to get him the extra actions he needs to be viable.

Yeah! this is why I am asking, I have only been building with interceptors for a short time now and I just can't seem to understand how he fits in a squad.

I can see this working, too bad I don't own a shuttle.
The short version is: can you fly a squint without Push The Limit?
His ability isn't bad - and works well with the inevitable Autothrusters modification, and whilst he's more expensive than a Royal Guard Pilot, he is cheaper than a Royal Guard Pilot with Push The Limit.
With a Stealth Device and Autothrusters plus an Evade Token, he's still a bugger to hit and not stressing himself - if he can lurk at range 3, and if you don't use your evade on defence, you can use it to push your damage, which it does slightly better than a normal pilot spending a focus token on the shot would have done.
Having a shuttle to support him is a good idea because extra token never hurt. I personally want to try Kir Kanos, Carnor Jax and a shuttle with the Emperor come the Raider release - they should work well as a three in theory - a tactical jammer on the shuttle protects Kanos, Jax's ability makes a shuttle with a sensor jammer a bugger to hit, and Kanos - if externally fed focus tokens - can do damage normally associated with cannons to keep people off the shuttle's vulnerable backside.

Has the Palpatine card been spoiled somewhere or is this list just for Fluff?

Its going to be really hard to keep those ships behind a shuttle without the 1 straight forward maneuver. I feel like you'll be bumping into the rear of the shuttle a lot. Have you actually tried it?
Kir Kanos sits in a weird place. Technically speaking, you would be better to shoot last so that you are sure that you won't need your Evade token for defense, but then again... shooting before your enemy is always a good thing, especially in a ship that can get blown away the first time he gets shot at. So, you will often be in a situation where you wonder if you should spend your Evade token to add a hit or keep it for defense: If you don't spend it, your opponent might pick another target, if you use it, he will shoot at your now token less interceptor.
The lack of EPT really hurt him. Predator could have give him a reroll or 2 to help his offense, raising his chance to actually do 4 hit. Lone wolf would have been wonderful on him! Push the limit too, so you could Focus+Evade, keeping one of those token for defense.
The trick with him is to keep at range 3 to benefit from Autothusters and the bonus defense dice. Second mod would either be Stealth Device, if you want to maximize your defense or, my personal choice, Targetting Computer. Slow play with him, take an Evade during the first pass. Then get pass the enemy so that nobody can shoot at you, take a TL, then return for a TL+Evade shot. If only his ability worked at range 1.... A lot of ''If only...'' with Kir Kanos actually.
But, bottom line is, you will usually be better to take a Royal Guard with EPT of choice over Kir Kanos. Unless you really want to make the pilot work, in this case you build around him... but is he really worth the effort?

The Shuttle's 1 straight is the same as a 2 straight for a small base ship so they'd all be moving at the same speed. Realistically, you aren't going to be able to keep the Shuttle in place to screen the other ships for much more than the initial exchange at range 3 but the chances are good that you'll have it in the way of enough shots to make focusing down the Shuttle a priority.
Edited by WWHSDTrue. It would take quite the setup though and like you said would fall apart after the initial engagement.
Its funny that 1 upgrade is all it would take for Kanos to go from nearly unused to one of the better Imperial pilots in the game. Same with Horton Salm.

Same can be said about Lorrir. If he could take an EPT, he would be one of my go-to Interceptor. But without it, I only take him when I feel extravagant.
Yeah, Lorrir w/ Predator or VI would make him a lot more useable. He really wouldn't want PTL as it would double stress him if he used his curvy BR. But then again you don't have to PTL when using the banking BR.
