DA's Armada Shipyards

By DiabloAzul, in Star Wars: Armada

DA, do you have a large base done for the Venator? I need to get that and the CIS bases printed and trimmed to fit.

Are any of the CIS ace squadrons done and I missed it?

Shipyards has the Munificent tab linking to the Providence stats. FYI

Not to sound needy, but is the base for the Providence done yet? It is not listed on Shipyards.

:)

If you don't get to any of this until after the Holidays I completely understand. I can make due with what I have. I just want to playtest as much as I can while I have the chance.

:)

DA, apparently RogueKnight has the large base template DL ready. He mentioned it somewhere.

When I was doing the X-Wing version of the Separatists I thought that there should be a huge difference between aces and normal ships. All the droid starfighters should be cheap and work in numbers, and to compensate you get a Ventress or a Maul that is absolutelly incredible.

That gives the faction its own identity.

Yeah, I saw that. But at this point my templates are so heavily edited (different battery dice layout, arc structures, and color schemes for other factions) that I'd rather convert it myself.

All good, just doing my part to share the knowledge.

I agree with that. Helps them really stand out of the swarm.

Is there a Clone Wars ship anyone wants to see some paint on? I am itching for a project now that the Liberty is almost done.

Worst case just use any old base top. I want to see photos of this battle!

It will look like GAR vs Rebels using TIE fighters. I will be using proxies for the entire CIS. My CIS fleet is going to by my springtime order.

I would love to see a Venator or two, myself.

'course, I'd also love to see a Lucrehulk, but I haven't seen any out yet.

I'd love to see a painted Munificent or Providence :) Did anyone do an Acclamator yet?

Alas, those are just too large to be practical, so they won't be part of the Shipyards Clone Wars set. Maybe further down the line...

There's some of those out in the wild, both in Imperial and Republic livery. **** sexy either way.

*sigh*

That is understandable, but simultaneously a shame. Personally, I don't care that much about proper scaling, but I get that other people do.

Providence, I like that model. There are some suggestions I have to try and work out with the munificent model...

For the record, I'd offer super-discount or even free rates from my commission service to paint these as a one-off...

Just with the CAD the way it is, and shipping (which can routinely be avoided) I can't afford to buy them myself. :/

Consider it an Open Offer, DA. I'm always happy to do things that basically amount to Publicity, after all :D

Will definitely keep that in mind. Could even bribe you with a set of custom cards :D

Alright, I haven't had a chance to playtest any of the concepts yet, but winter break is still young. I do have some quick notes.

For the Lucrehulk, that is so large as to easily be a part of the (still-)theoretical "dreadnought" ship type, an experiment unfortunately still on hold from last semester. This semester should be at least a little more conducive to that. If you're curious message me or search the thread. Or wait. I'll get to it eventually.

For CIS aces, keeping digging back a few pages and you should have a selection of ace ideas and CIS fighter squadrons not already carded. You are welcome to take those out for a spin. Page 47 specifically, with Page 48 detailing conceptual specs for the Geonosian Pinnace, christened Uhlan class, and the Wavecrest frigate. Neither of those have been too seriously looked at, so give them a once-over yourself. (Also look at the note about Ventress.)

On one final note tonight, I have gotten in a bit of play with the new Imperial class. I feel quite confident saying that the Venator, especially as built, is a large ship. Providence can join it, but the Recusant should stay medium. I'll elaborate more tomorrow if folks are interested. G'night

I look forward to seeing your ideas in practice. I've asked Mel a few questions about how they do some 3d Models via PM (some technical stuff, spacing between and height of panels). Let me know if you need another 3D Modeller.

I think we got ourselves a convoy!.. Testing out a convoy scenario with these tomorrow.. printed paper models modified with PVC board...

pic2800893.jpg

How did the convoy scenario go?

The scenario went well .. We had made a scenario where the rebels were trying to capture (2 VP per captured ship safely away) or secondarily destroy an imperial convoy (imps get 2 VP for safely escaping with a transport). Capturing were done by landing 2 or more blue acc. Results on the hull of a Bulk Freighter in the same round and thus immobilizing it (with some balancing rules so you can remove a blue crit to turn a blue hit into a accuracy) and then moving within distance 1 to capture it.

The imps started at 300 points plus the freighters while the rebels started at 400 but were hampered by the fact that the convoy would absorb a lot of attention from my two CR-90Bs tasked with capturing the transport while the rest of the fleet dealt with the imperial escort. at the end of turn 4 (out of 8 turns in total) the imps got 135 more points in as reinforcements (in this case an ISDII) in at 1 of 2 predetermined jump-points...

Highlights: A GR-75 fitted as a squadron support ship (Repair bays) got caught in front an ISDII (starting force) and got obliterated. A MC30 torp frigate oneshotted a raider and then went on to intentionally block a transport allowing the one surviving GR-90B to capture it.

In the end the imps won by a hair in turn 8 as they shot an escaping captured transport at the last possible moment by dealing the crit that deals two damage cards. The armed transport was destroyed and the remaining transport was immobilized but not captured.

Tycho single-handedly dealt with 2 interceptors and then i pulled him out of the battle to save him for later games in the campaign.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun with that. I want to try something similar post Christmas break. I just hope my Vindicator gets herem in time to be one of my convoy escorts.

Hey Gilmore, do you have some closer shots on those BFF-1s and how you made them? I'd also like some floating targets for a scenario idea I've got...

Check PM.. The model is in the mail...

Got it, thanks!

Gilmore,

Are you willing to share the BFF with more people?
