DA's Armada Shipyards

By DiabloAzul, in Star Wars: Armada

As discussed previously, the Squadron Value is not neccessarily how many squadrons it is capable of carrying , but how many squadrons it is capable of coordinating ...

The GR75 nominally doesn't carry any... But if you are equipping it with an expanded hangar bay, youy're basically saying that you trashed all of the cargo capacity for a bay, launch systems and probably more Fighter C&C capacity...

Because equating Squadron Command to Carrying Capacity is fruitless once you get to the Imperial Star Destroyer, after all....

The best we have is that a Squadron base is a squadron , but the actual amount of fighters in that squadron is nebulous and undefined at best.

Of course, but couldn't that carrier be the alternate ship card? One variation is more combat oriented while the other has better fighter capacity? The idea behind the MC40a with the offensive slot is to reflect it's many tractor beams.

Edited by Wes Janson

Speaking for myself, I like Wes' idea. Leave that as the first version of the MC40 and give the other Squad 2 or 3, with a commensurate loss in armament range or the like.

I did the carrier version with no black dice. Even though it's firepower is still decent it lacks the brawler attitude of the cruiser variant.

Lack of Weapons Team shoots both in the foot offensively, not that that is necessarily a bad thing.

I thought about it, but it is a light cruiser after all. I wanted the Assault Frigate to hold the role of weapons team carrier.

Lots of ships lack a weapons team slot. That doesn't mean it can't put out damage.

It's not that it can't put out damage. It's that no Weapons Team means that the MC40 is knowingly optimized for another role. Example: as an Imperial player, I rely very heavily on carriers for my squadron game. Carriers means two things to me, Expanded Hangar Bays, so Offensive Retrofit slot, and Flight Controllers, which is Weapons Team. Alternatively, Weapons Team also provides such nifty upgrades as Sensor Team, Gunnery Team, and Veteran Gunners. Clearly ships without it can be capable combatants (see CR90, MC80, Neb-B), but it gives the ship a different role in the fleet lineup. Thus, the ship is shot in the foot offensively, not that that is necessarily a bad thing.

So... the Marauder card and tile.. i dont have the right file for it but DA's armada yards does not have one.... Utar and Mel's both make it... anybody have any proper sized pictures of it so it can be but into my gimp photoshop program and printed out the correct size?

Are you looking for the ship or the ship card? You might want to see if it was transferred over to FoaS's Kuat Drive Yards , or worst case, use KDY to remake it yourself. KDY is specifically built to give you cards for printing, though they are intentionally more distinct from FFG's than Diablo's. I'd also be shocked if the card isn't farther up this thread if it was ever released at all.

I never made proper cards for the Marauder corvette. Only a commissioned set based on somebody else's stats and point cost (which I do not necessarily agree with). These are in my old photobucket account; I'm travelling right now but will post a link later.

thank you.. yeah.. a buddy and i dont think the Missle marauder should be a 4 black dice forward.. maybe three.. or 2 black and 1 blue..

These are the cards someone requested me to make (pre-wave 2 I believe):

The rest of the commissioned set can be found here:

FWIW, the account also has some other oddities that never made it to Shipyards, like an early version of the Braha'tok (it represents a flotilla rather than a single ship, in fact), some draft versions of the Venator, or the CIS droid starfighters. If you're curious, you can find it all here:

Necro time! Clearly, the Shipyards project is dead now. I just don't have the time or inclination to finish Set II.

But as a last hurrah, riding on the wave of the Chimera expansion, I was considering doing a small one-off set with new Star Destroyer titles (and possibly other ISD-specific upgrades?). The general idea is to make 2- and 3-ISD lists more fun (and more viable) to field in casual play.

Anyone up for some play-testing? :)

Shipyards isn't dead, so long as we keep playing it.

I'm down to beta test

I'm in. I can usually get the boys to join me for a game or two over the weekend.

How many of us have Tabletop Simulator?

I'm in, but don't have TTS. And dead is a stretch, it's dormant, but I think KDY elegantly carries on the tradition. (It's also where I've ported my work, so yeah.)

I will. These look great. Offhand, I would rather a cheaper Bellicose with a range restriction (D1 of a large base is a huge area), and is the new upgrade slot on PoT Experimental Retrofit per FFG or our Grav Well work?

It's Fleet Command, as on the Cymoon-1 Refit.

As for Bellicose... yeah, I know. It could be absolutely brutal. But then again, for a few more points you could just get a Lambda. This is probably the one which needs the most testing, together with Scourge Squadron.

What I'm mostly interested to hear from playtesting is, in this order:

  1. Does the card break anything?
  2. Is the card fun to play?
  3. Is the card (relatively) balanced ?

Hey DA, did you ever come up with a good concept for the Droid keyword? I knew you were playing around with it, but I'm not sure if you ever got one you liked.

Yeah, I had one that seemed to work well. Need to dig it up from another computer - will do it some time this weekend.

Let me know when you've dug it up and I can add it to KDY if you'd like.

Any chance of getting these reposted? A bunch of the images on the Armada Shipyard's site don't link to anything (assorted ships in each faction but especially the Separatists).

Thanks!
