SirWilli's Workshop: X-Wing 2.0 stuff

By SirWillibald, in X-Wing

For conversion kit ship tokens, i use 3-ship gear boxes that has all pilot names. Then i divide up all ship tokens among the gear boxes and pencil in which pilots are in each box. Helps a lot.

This is odd. The regular SCU pdf doesn't have the conversion kit stuff anymore, but the Table of Contents still lists all of it. And the new CK one doesn't open. Is anyone else seeing this issue?

*sigh* this is probably caused by some kind of bug with the download manager I use, the problem keeps popping up when downloading big files. Just gave it a try myself, the CK file downloaded and opended fine. But I know others had similiar issues before.

Tried a second time? Otherwise check my FAQ, there's an alternate download link to my dropbox, but it only lists a few files.

On second try, the CK one now works. The regular one still has all those extra Table of Contents entries (no idea what would cause that - probably some issue with whatever you author that document with) but it works!

Actually this is caused by me forgetting to update the Changelog. 🤦‍♂️

The SWZ08 stuff was separated on purpose, I don't want to force everybody to download all those CK hangars each time, this seemed like a better approach.

@SirWillibald , how quick do you think you can update the dividers? The current dividers are missing the resistance transport and transport pod. The next wave should be out soon with the new republic y-wing and separatist Nantex starfighter. I wasn’t sure if it was just updating the text like you do for the hangars.

I got them all made!

i did notice a couple typos:

  • "Talon Bane" -> "Talonbane Cobra"
  • "Nashtah Pub" -> "Nashtah Pup"

Thank you so much for doing these!

Should be a much lesser effort than new Hangars. See what I can do!

All? 71?? 😲

Sorry for the bugs, will take care of them...

Well. For each ship, i printed the 'n ship version' where n was the biggest. (2-ship versions of aggressors, 3 ship versions of fangs, etc).

Dividers updated!

There's a missing line break between two of the Shadowcaster pilots on the bigger (2 ship?) box.

Thanks a million for giving us options for number of dials.

You're welcome, after all it was such a great idea! Therefore thanks to you! 🙂

I just finished assembling my Wave 5 boxes. HOLY MYNOCK! Them Nantex Microhangars are TINY! You can actually fit a Nantex ship between the BTL-B's engines with room to spare inside a BTL-B Microhangar.

I'm actually tempted to make a Microhangar box that'd fit 2x Nantex ships. It'll make it harder misplacing said box and losing it.

That makes me thing of something I do for certain ships: I double-stuff them!

Here's a short list of which ships I can remember doing this with where 2 fit in one box:

TIE Interceptor
E-wing
U-wing
TIE Striker
and you can fit two smaller ships like the TIE v1 in the box with the Lambda.

You can fit 2 StarFortresses in a single box too.

Questions for my fellow Storage Nuts:

  • Can anyone recommend a Cricut printer/cutter for these Microhangers and Gear Boxes?
  • Do any Cricut model work? Or does one particular model stand out from the rest?
  • Any advice using Cricut printers is greatly appreciated

I just finished making the conversion kits. Phew! That was an effort. For the remaining conversion kits, I plan on using a Cricut printer. Not needing to cut out the boxes would be a time saver.

Thanks in advance. Fly True and May the Force be with You.

I have been looking at doing this with my wife’s circuit. What she told me:

Expressions is old and phased out.

Express Air is mainly used for vinyl and card stock (and what my wife has).

Maker will do what the Air does, but can also do leather, balsa, etc.

There are some videos out there that show how to print the hangers and then transfer that over to the circuit. I have a bunch of z-95’s I need to test that with.

....and now she won’t stop talking about it. 😅

Thanks for the info. Do you have links to those videos you mentioned?

Sorry i got you into quicksand. Just tell your wife, "I'm listening with all my attention." Then turn the TV for some football.

On youtube, just do a search for "cricut print and cut".

And after 19 years of practice, I have nod-and-smile down pat. 😉
