SirWilli's Workshop: X-Wing 2.0 stuff

By SirWillibald, in X-Wing

Hey guys, yes, those are still on my list, but thanks to job, family and two nasty illnesses in the past months I didn't manage to get anything done... ? ?

But I won't forget about the Gearboxes, they are in one of the top spaces!

But with all those pilot names and ini values they involve some time consuming work. If you're willing to help, I could upload an excel sheet with some instructions where everybody could add a few pilots and ini values, if desired. This would help a lot!

My hobby project (xhud.sirjorj.com) has an entire data store of all the stuff. I could generate all the data in whatever format you want in a pretty short amount of time.

Ok, sounds promising. But I really need a rather... special formatting to be able to generate all files automatically (otherwise the whole thing would take a lifetime of dumb click work...)

I've started an online excel sheet, including some instructions how to insert the stuff. This way I can simply copy&paste everything into my new 2.0 language file.

If you or anybody else is willing to take a look:

Feel free to ask questions, it looks somewhat intimidating at first ?

All the blue "DUMMY" entrys need to be filled with life...

Seeing that someone already started adding data to my excel sheet (thanks!!), I felt motivated enough to try two subtle changes for the new GearBoxes.

I've got mainly two requests in the past, one being to add the faction symbol to the lid, which seems very useful (7 factions in the near future...) the other to have the name of the ship on the box (especially helpful for beginners who can't tell by heart which pilots goes with which ship).

Hear's a little test, what do you think? The ship title has only been added to the side (not useful enough?), but the top/bottom lid is already very crowded... Adding it to the front would be possible, as well!

Can you drop "Gear Box" from the top & bottom flaps and include the Ship Name instead? I can only speak for myself, but I keep all my G. Boxes together since they're the same size and shape, so there's not any confusion about what they are.

I agree, the fact that it has the names of the included pilots implies that it is a gear box (at least for the top and bottom flaps).

Hello!

ETA for Saw's and Tie Reaper micro hangars?

BTW, your work is awesome Sir Wilibald!

Looking forward to Scum Falcon (and Totally-Viable-Craft) boxes! I'm guessing you won't be able to get the escape craft box to fit in the Falcon box like you did with the Ghost, though.

Will take a look at it once I have it πŸ™‚

Sorry, not yet, I'm ill, some bad backache, can't sit in front of my PC at the moment... 😞

I'm sorry to hear that...

I hope you get well soon!

I can't believe I've only just found these. Using the foam has been good, but takes up so much space, and so often I can't get the ones I want locally.

Can't wait for the wave 14 ships :)

Glad you like it, and after a long break I started working on wave 14 finally. MicroHangars and Gearboxes for 2.0 are next on my list. :)

I'd be more than happy to help beta test them again! :)

Can I beta test it too? I have both wave 14 expansions and plenty of cardboard! 🀩 πŸ€—

Me too! πŸ‘

😁 😁

I hear you... Will think about doing a public beta πŸ˜‰

My first bunch of 2.0 stuff arrived a few days ago, started working on the new GearBoxes and MicroHangars. Will start with a mini release for the new core box ships (the GearBoxes will be upgraded a bit, the MicroHangars only sligthly), after that it should be easier and quicker too add new stuff!

You are a frakkin' hero, @SirWillibald , and a global treasure. Thank you for all your hard work!

πŸ˜„ Thank you!

And here you go, beta testers. Lost my files for wave 14 when they were nearly done 😞 was too mad to start over with them immediately, therefore I decided to give the new 2.0 Hangars and GearBoxes a try.

Should anybody want to test them, go ahead, but I won't promise that everything fits!

Inside the pdf you'll find stuff for the T-65 from the new core box, two MicroHangars (one sized like the old one, and one additional hangar for closed S-Foils) and a GearBox. The GearBox is measured for the premium dial, but you should be able to fit the standard dial inside, too, it's simply slightly thicker. Doing both versions is possible, but I need to prepare some new master layers first, too late today for this.

So, no complete and polished release, but I'm starting to get back on track...

Oh, and feel free to bother me with mistakes or design issues.

hello. im trying to find out if theres a website or a way to make movement dials or if im able to buy just the dials themselves to replace the ones i have that are messed up and i have a lot of them since i play alot locally. if anyone knows please email me at johntjamesonjr@gmail.com ty

I have a site with printable generic proxies. Pilot, ship token and dial. Download and print on cardstock at 100% and they should work for you.

Rejoice!

First BETA already deleted, check out my Release Candidate with the first Second Edition MicroHangars !

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2mwdg3z3s4yup0e/AACGTcOoeFhdBj6Ebvs0N2OLa?dl=0

Inside you'll find the following hangars:

- T-65 X-wing and TIE/ln Fighter from SWZ01 (CoreSet). The X-wing hangar has two options, one like before, the other for closed wings. Had no chance yet to actually build it.

- TIE Reaper from SWX74 (don't know if it ever gets a SWZ release), previously unreleased!

- Saw's Renegades from SWX74 (same about the SWZ release), previously unreleased!

The differences to the v1.0 MicroHangars are not really significant:

- Changed the X-Wing logo to the new one (not much difference, tbh).

- Changed the placement of some logos.

- No more lame specs graphics from the net, selfmade specs for all(!) ships. Took some time, but I like it better that way.

Next on my list are the corresponding 2.0 GearBoxes and then I'll start adding further ships, hopefully on a regular time frame.

Hope you like it, let me know if something's not correct.

I just made my first T-65 box and it's awesome!

My one and only gripe is the paper waste from only having one box on a page. Is that something you'll fix on the next batch?

Most of the things take less than half a page - just flip it and print something on the other half.

Hey, glad you like!

Concerning the paper waste:

No, I'm not going to change this, it's done this way on purpose, because Photoshop generates all files (in different language versions) automatically and I end up with only one hangar per page by default. Arranging those files is simply too much work.

But as Sirjori said, simply flip and feed the paper into your printer again!
