Standard Police Speeder

By GM Hooly, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

This is what I was thinking. Rather than modifying the vehicle just have the values you want as a Police Model of that vehicle. Think the Police Interceptors that were built on the Ford Crown Victoria model.

Silhouette: 3 Speed: 1 Handling: 0

HT: 12(you had 10 and added the Hull Reinforcement +2 more) ST: 8 Defense: 0/0 Armor: 1 (you had 0, but maybe 2)

Hull Type: Speeder Truck

Categories: Land Vehicle

Maximum Altitude: 8 Meters

Sensor: Medium (you had Short but added Upgraded Comms)

Crew: 1 Pilot, 1 Transport Guard (You had just 1 Pilot)

Encumbrance Capacity: 135

Passengers: 11

Price: 25,000 - 30,000ish (upped base price from 7,000)

Rarity: 6-8 (Higher Rarity for Law Enforcement Vehicle)

Customization Hardpoints: 3

Attachments: None (yet)

To which they can have the SWAT version and the paddy wagon version and command center version.

Yes. :D

Upgraded Comms doesn't change Sensor Range, and Medium range sensors is quite high for a planetary vehicle.

I think this is the best idea. Take any civilian (not military) model and upgrade it a bit. Especially use this for true planetary police, not paramilitary police (then just use military vehicles).

Instead of extrapolating, you could just use the RAW with attachments added to a civilian vehicle. If you want a SWAT armored response speeder, just start with the A-A5 Heavy Speeder Truck from EotE Core. It starts with 2 crew and 25 passenger capacity, 3 hard points, Rarity 2, 10,000 Credits, 0 armor. Use that 3 HP to add an Autoblaster and enhanced armor (+1). The vehicle now has a rarity of 3 (due to the attachment rarities) and costs 19,000 Credits. As a GM you could rule that 5 locked cells/cages take up 15 of the passenger spaces leaving you room for a 10-man SWAT team.

That's essentially what he did though.. he took the stats given and added attachments that he thought would be ideal for a police vehicle.

only instead of them being attachments he assumed these were built in from the ground up and thus allowing it to still have hardpoints to customize to various police roles.

I would add that it can dock with prison facilities to make escape more difficult.
