Surely at speed 0 with no defence token the sd will just take you apart, even at long range?

Like I said, it depends on the situation, if it's just 1 SD in range, then they can't kill me through my front arc. Aso, it'll the the ships that are further back, and I'll be running Garm, so that I start the game with a nav token. In a 5 neb-b vs 3 VSD game, I'm willing to trade 1 for one each turn, especially if they come at me staggered and I can get the first kill.

So what happens if the VSDs also sit at speed 0 and wait for you to come to them? Remember that with Tarkin, they can go from 0 to 2 in the same round. And let's also say that you're in fact dealing with Vic IIs. Suddenly, you're in medium range with three VSDs, each of which is shooting 6 dice, have much more hull, and can use 6 engineering points every turn to heal through that game of chicken? And you can't move away from without exposing your fragile sides.

Again, point for point, you don't play chicken with Star Destroyers. That's what they are designed to do.
