Actually, I enjoy hanging aroud with fellow X-Wing players while having a beer.

This gives me an idea ... to turn X-Wing into a drinking game!

If one of your ships suffer a critical hit, you need to down a drink!

I'll throw in my Cobra build:

Cobra Commander + Predator + EU + Glitter

Kavil + VI + ABT + EU + Unhinged

Palob + Expert Hand. + K4 Sec + ICT + Dampeners

All like the close range fight and I got 2 pilots at PS 9. Really I just hope to make the target prioritizing hell. Cobra is a lot of points at 37, but Kavil is pretty nasty with the ABT. Palob is a pain to deal with and will be sort of hard to kill when they won't have many dice modifiers. I can shred a TL with Expert Handling if possible. Hopefully he can zap something so Kavil and Cobra can set up a kill shot.

This is actually remarkably close to my build.

I had actually been hoping to get Opportunist on all of three of them for maximum token stealing shenanigans, but they're 7 points too expensive to run with all the bells and whistles I want.

Aww thanks. :). I'm glad you think so.

I'll post some cobra lists when I get home. And then you guys can rip them off me and take them to worlds. :P jk. My ideas are fairly obvious and someone else will figure them out before too long.

So, the list isn't that interesting. Its about how you create lists:


(Kaisbgkldskg fighters assumed to fly like X-wings.)


What does TBC do? He gets incredible jousting ability: 5dice at R1 (which happens even more in a close up fight) and he gets 3green at R3. The R3 I think is just a little help to get into range. Its not going to be very abusable imo.


With a lot of dice, the question is how to get the best modifiers and also how to always land shots: meaning PS and maneuverability.


Thus: I want to engage and engage and fight and fight and fight:


Engine seems like a must here to ensure that R1. Xs have a problem of low HP, the Engine will also help you do a little arc-dodging at PS9.

For modifiers, you can either use EPT or Glitterstim. I choose glitterstim because I think TBC is the premier threat and they wil want to focus him. the EPT imo is honestly up to you.

Lone wolf is attractive... but going in a group and blasting the crap out of whatever you want on the first flyby joust pass sounds wayyy too lucrative to pass up.


So our approach is joust. What other ships are good jousters? Ships with high statline/jousting efficiency, swarms, other things that get in close and hit hard: Boba and Guri and Palob and Warthogs.


Palob has high value and also does remove tokens from enemies, lowering their damage potential, letting TBC and the rest of your 3ship list live longer.

You can put Opportunist on TBC if you want... I just think 5 dice is enough and I'd rather have Pred or PTL.


Guri's problem is also simply getting shots. She likes flying at the opponent, and doing the knife fight. 1hard turns plus BR/Boost are NASTY in the later rounds of a joust (when you start circling and turning on each other). She will almost always have a R1 person. Though that might not be right in front of her.

She already has modifiers: Free F, (take TL or BR/Boost). She has mobility. So thus: VI for being able to see all the mid PS. And then Hotshot Blaster to ensure she always has a nice R1-2 TL F 3dice shot. Thats good right?


Palob also provides a little help against Phantoms or arc dodgers without Auto. Even with Auto, if they don't have enough tokens, Palob does have a chance to hit them: Take TL, steal a F: 3dice TL F iCT shot.

This list fears no man, no woman, no interceptor nor fat turret. No bros either.

Up to you if you want a 2pt upgrade. I think its fine. Glitter on Ndru would be my choice That or Adrenaline Rush or VI on TBC for 99pts.

The 2nd list i would deploy like this:

Rocks actually around R2 R3, leaving a hole in the center.

Deploy Boba and TBC around R3-4 from the corner. Planing to move forward to turn immediately away form Ndru for better angle if need be.

Ndru in the corner where he's hard to snipe. Lone Wolf will take care of him in a 1v1 or 2v1 (20vs19 or 40vs19) situation. If they really go after him. That's ok.

Fly forward and hard with TBC and Boba and forcing him to take engagements on you.

Late game, Boba can use rear more and fly away from Ndru.

If TBC survives, just keep trying to blast stuff.

Ndru Lone into the late game against normal ships should be okay. But not great.

Honestly, if Ndru dies, he probably did his job.

We really need to see the kgiraxisxz dial, but i think when they're room for upgrades ill take predator over ptl on him, you may end up actionless trying to keep it close so the auto rerrolls will go further, just my two bits.

I believe he was originally 29 in the preview, but they took the spread image down for a while and the new one has him at 28.

Its still closed beta, i have a friend who has accounts.

now playing wowarships a few times, I acutally feel like armada gets some things right that wow doesnt: namely you can shoot ot two sides of your ship. you can do more stuff concurrently. You aren't going to get periscope tunnel vision (like the idiot player i am) when you go for bust on something.

the problem with armada:

too many rules

WAY too long still

confusing rules and objective cards

things move really really really slowly. In the whole game, the VSD simply goes about 1/2 or 3/4 the board in a near straight line. Its pretty boring.

I kept watching this and thinking, "this sounds similar to a Metallica song from the Kill 'Em All album".

I just can't put my finger on which one. The words aren't the same but it sounds so similar to one I just can't remember and I am listening to the whole album right now.
