New Player Imperial list

By Vonhail, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey had a couple of learn to play games and wanted to make my own 100pnt list and just wanted your feedback before i go buy the models

Tie Phantom Shadow Squadron Pilot + Advanced Sensors + Advanced Cloaking Device 36pnts x2

Turr Phennir + Deadeye + Autothrusters 28pnts

A lot of my friends are using a low model count in there games as they have a lot of named chars.

Would the clocking work in games or you think I just don't have enough models to make this work?

Deadeye is a complete waste on an Interceptor. It lets you fire ordnance that requires a TL using a Focus but an Interceptor does carry any ordnance; even on the ships that do Deadeye is questionable at best. A much better choice for him would be Veterans Instincts to boost him to PS 9 allowing him a better chance to shoot and then roll/boost out of arc.

I'm questioning ACD on the Phantoms you have selected. If you are playing against higher PS ships your opponents may be able to deprive you of the shots needed to trigger ACD and even when it does trigger you're not gaining as much from it as the +2 agility is wasted if no one is left to shoot at you. I can see how it would save you an action, if used, on Cloaking so you could Decloak before activations start but that is the only advantage I see; I think I'd rather have the SPA for the free Evade actions to allow me to avoid some damage to the glass cannons.

Looking at your post count I'm wondering if you are aware of the change FFG made to the way Decloaking works. Originally you would decloak before the ship revealed its maneuver dial allowing it to react to ships that have already moved. Recently, a change was made that requires you to decloak at the start of the Activation phase after other "at the start" triggers happen but before individual ships start acting.

Having not tried it, I still think ACD might be worth it on the lower skill Phantoms. If only because it lets you cloak for free every turn (if you can get a shot). That lets you use the decloak maneuver every turn, rather than just occasionally. Again, I haven't tried it, but just my thoughts.

I would use "Push to the Limit" on the interceptor. This talent goes great with this ship and boosts its abilities.

Hey thanks for the replies and yeah I do know of the new rule but didn't think to much of it with the advance cloaking device, but I do see your point with there could nothing to shoot, but with good planning can I avoid that with out being blown up? Or should I just go 1 advance 1 phantom and 1 interceptor.
