Community Goal: Let's make FFGEvan lonely

By R22, in Star Wars: Armada

I'm torn. I agree with the OP but I don't think anyone should be alone

It's okay. FFGEvan already endorsed his solitude.

Last I heard, he hopped a one way shuttle to Dagobah.

X Wing Nut: I originally was going to make it "Let's make FFGEvan powerless" or less visible, but I didn't want it to look like a subtle call to some kind of internet forum revolution. I figured lonely was sufficiently childish that it wold keep the humor in it. He's since approved it so all's well.

Cmndr Kahlain: No, thats the lesser powered ffgjosh. He's on Dagobah and less powerful, hence the lowercase letters. FFGEvan is the true power player on the forum, he features capital letters and has wielded his power more visibly than ffgjosh who has gone the way of Yoda.

How do we know the Yoda (and Obiwan) comparison is the right one? Maybe ffgjosh is like Palpatine, staying in the background and subtly pulling strings to get what he desires, while his dark apprentice (FFGEvan) is on the front lines, hunting down forum trolls traitorous rebels and exacting merciless vengeance upon them for their dissident ways.

YES!!!

Perhaps -- in future -- he could be persuaded to throw around a little Force Lightning. You know, by way of a mild reproach.

If we really get out of control, there's always the Death Star Option...

Fear will keep the forums in line. Fear of this battle station.

Judging from already existing threads in this forum, and the X-Wing forum as a whole, I think FFGEvan will be quite busy.

From what I understand, the FFG forums are astonishingly civil compared to the rest of the internet commenting culture. That being said, 2 of the 3 upstart moment in Armada have all been tied to discussions on the shipping delays.

The obvious solution is for FFGEvan to turn his attention to settling these real world trade disputes, perhaps by taking over and then restructuring Wizards of the Coast as an elite team of magician-mercenaries for hire who retrieve FFG's products from troubled ports.

So the jist is theres a forum mod who... mods. FFGEvan thank you :)

He turned me into a newt! ...I got better.

Was Force Lightning involved? :D

After a period of relative peace and order the soul sapping energies of hate, despair, and anger have re-awoken FFGEvan in a recent thread. The resulting lapse has infused him with power and another wellspring of the forum has fallen under his control. Countless future comments cried out and were suddenly silenced, their existence cut short before it could truly begin.

Fellow Forum-users, do not let idle complacency draw you back into the seduction of the Dark Side! FFGEvan was roundly repulsed by our concerted light-hearted efforts. His recent resurgence in power must be contained now, at the outset! Rally to the light-hearted side! Only then can we deny him the opportunities to exercise his Forum powers!

Continued support for the Dark Side may not only rile up FFGEvan, it might even bring about that rumored Sith in exile, the rarely before seen ffgjosh. Be vigilant, fellow forum users!

EDIT: Any forum users unfamiliar with this thread ought go to the beginning to note the sanctity of its sincere purpose and silly tone. May the forum be with you. Always.

For those who try to start wars against mods.

Seriously take you I've been offended because someone said I offended others somewhere else.

Oh BTW blocked OP!

LOL

If you make a Sith Lord laugh, have you dabbled in the Dark Side?

It depends on how you make him (or her!) laugh.

particularly if "dabbled" is an euphemism which which I am not (yet) familiar!

I almost wish there was a way, That before you could post in a thread you had to read all the previous comments.

Wow, I vanish for a little while to spend time with my son and what do you guys do? Let FFGEvan slumber, his wrath is not to be tempted.

But seriously guys even though we are adults and can handle many words without being offended we also don't need to talk like teenage boys trying to show how cool they are by using controversial words for shock value. It is very immature. Try using more substantial words and show your intelligence instead. That will make this community great.

And if you happen to be a teenage boy understand we all were there but most of us grew out of that need to be shocking stage. We just don't find it cool and neither does FFGEvans.

As long as they don't close threads that actually make sense just because they don't like them everything is fine!

As long as they don't close threads that actually make sense just because they don't like them everything is fine!

Sadly, to a SJW it's irrelevant how much sense the thread makes. All that seems to matter to them is that they can twist something innocent to the point where they can then either claim victimhood, or play the role of Knight in Shining Armour.

We shouldn't be forced into a situation where we have to go over everything we say with a fine-tooth comb, lest the SJWs find some way to twist it to claim victimhood. Firstly, having to do so just ruins the atmosphere of the community, and secondly, it's a pretty pointless exercise anyway - they will find some innocent comment they can twist into a meaning you had never imagined. (Seriously, I was reading recently about some SJWs who are now claiming that the statement "I believe the most qualified person should get the job" is aggressive against minorities.)

All users need to do is be respectful and thoughtful. Think about how your comments could be perceived by someone you don't know thousands of miles away, possible more (or less) mature than you. Don't use offensive words, don't use offensive stereotypes, remember we're in the 21st century and this is public, not a school yard.

We can all play nice, respect each other's opinion and be courteous can't we?

(Edited for my own aggressiveness and quickness to point fingers, I hope this is more thoughtful :) )

The phrase social justice warrior is not a perjorative. The world is not out to shut you down or stop you talking, it's out to try and give everyone the respect they deserve as human beings. You might not be offended or upset by word XXX other people may be. They aren't wrong, hell, you aren't even wrong, but if you're to communicate with the wider world then you need to show some respect.

I found your take on the word in question and your reaction to it to be offensive. What's more, those that went to momma (moderators) to tattle because someone used that word was even more offensive. I still can't get over adults doing something like that.....

My guess however, is that you decided that your level of being offended is more important than others, which of course flies in the face of the whole "respect other's opinion and be courteous" schtick.

I don't believe you

I'm ok with that... :)

Really, you can go over the top with everything... I am very much for a civilized behaviour on forums, but other than that if you can't express yourself anymore in fear that maybe someone might take offense in it... well let's be honest then i don't care if anyone takes offense then. It's a tough world and reality is not made of pink flowes and rainbow flavored unicorns!

The hunting hound bites,

Its locked jaws forbid escape,

No peace in our time.

Let it go: concede one or two things magnanimously (even if you're in the right) and let odious subjects pass by. Civility is graciousness and courteous behaviour melded with a respect and consideration for others. Dogged continuance of contentious subjects or vindictive spite just makes a forum a more toxic place. There is always another time and a better place to be right or prove a point.

This way, we shall not disturb the slumbers of That which shall not be named, and we may see the light of another day!

This message was sponsored by the Friends of Civility 2015, and was in no way directed at any one poster or any 'side' in recent exchanges, real or fictitious.

Equally so, if we are being fair, we might want to concede that:

  1. This is a private (in the "not owned by the government or the public" sense) forum operated by FFG.
  2. FFG is doing so for commercial purposes - now, on average, FFG are pretty f'ing cool about letting people BS, chat, and build a community on their forum, but we should always be aware that we are doing so on FFG's dime and time.

To that end, from the perspective of a company, I can see how the best course of action in terms of not offending potential customers and current customers, as well as keeping things civil and focused on the actual purpose of this forum, would be to simply ask people not to get into big debates about social issues, politics, etc., etc., etc.

So I would suggest part of being civil is respecting both each other and what FFG is doing for the community on here, and burying the hatchet and/or taking this kind of debate to somewhere it belongs, perhaps. The point is not if people take offense (screw them), the point is about how you conduct yourself in someone else's home with regard to creating a stir, as that is ultimately what these forums are.

Personally, I hope we see more Star Jedi Warriors on this board!

Reinholt's right, this is not an open forum and is for all purpose a place to promote their products. Political views, mine included, are not what FFG wants. They by all means reserve the right to lock or delete posts or threads.

Trust me when I say I have had my dumb moments and got into politics on here and was reminded to stop.

Also what is wrong with us being civil and respecting each other? Seems Way better than the opposite.

So let's keep FFGEvan happy here then go to another forum to rip each other's throats out, figuratively speaking.

Think of it this way, what if a Mom was watching her son on the forum and she saw the word that started that threads death spiral? Think she thinks lightly of that word. Now FFG very well could lose a sale because the Mom might think all players think that way. Extreme? Very much Yes, but that stuff happens and FFG doesn't want potential customers being scared off by us salty mouthed sailors. (Some of the stuff I have said in games. All in fun but still not appropriate here.)
