2 Topics away from eclipsing Imperial Assault Boards, what does it mean?

By Jut, in Star Wars: Armada

HI all,

As I post this, this will make topic 1379, which will put us 1 topic away from the 1380 of the Imperial Assault Boards.

FFG, has my money on X-Wing, Armada and Imperial Assault. I love all three games, equally? I think.

Is Armada going to outstrip IA in terms of popularity, generating revenues, etc?

Are the number of topics even a good judge as to the "popularity" of a game?

Anyone want to try and scrye the bones of # of forum posts and what that means for the various SW games?

It could just mean we're all just really chatty.

Even more than that, I think it's a pretty good indicator that we all wish we were playing Armada right now, but since we're not playing armada, we're doing the next best thing: talking about armada. ;)

I'd bet it's the fact wave 1 is imminent and thus the real game can begin.

And now we are tied at 1380 topics!!!!

When it comes down to it, Imperial Assault is a self-contained experience. The entire thing is packaged in just that one box, with the characters, main story, and the like right there. All the expansions are adding are minor characters to the skirmish mission and a few side-stories. Perhaps eventually they will release a bigger expansion with another packaged story?

Meanwhile Armada expansions are giving us set pieces. There is no set story or campaign for us to follow with this game, just more set pieces to make whatever story there is out of the objectives. And with virtually no ceiling to the game like X-Wing, there is an infinite amount of space to expand.

And that's why Armada may become the more popular of the two. While the Imperial Assault players are wondering how to get around mission 3 for several threads, here at Armada we're creating new custom ships that we'd want to see in the game.

Imperial Assault is mostly a boardgame of sorts.

brace yourselves

wave 1 is coming...

I love imperial assault. However, as was mentioned earlier in this thread, it's a self contained game. I don't find, aside from rule questions, that there is all that much to talk about.

This, like xwing, has more theory crafting type concepts due to the nature of the game and thus naturally tends to more discussion possibilities....

It actually means that there are way too many "stats of a super star destroyer" threads in the forum.

Lol....

And someone had to go and Tarkin this thread...Happens all the time

You may fire when ready

I think it means there are 180 threads about FFG making a SSD and only 35 treads about FFG making an AT-AT.

There are probably no threads about them making an SSD that shoots AT-ATs (white dice, maybe?)

At at's don't need defense dice. They just cancel all attack dice, because, well, they are at at's! ;)

But a simple string make them fall.

It wasn't just a string. It was a multi-fiber cable fired from a snowspeeder at just the right velocity by a Jedi knight.... Good God man, do you remember how hard that was on Super Nintendo??

I know Dak felt like he could take on the whole Empire himself, but I don't think he was a Jedi. ;)
