Generic Assassin Droid

By Filter, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Had a slight light bulb moment in the campaign forum about the IG-88 mission "Droid Uprising". I think FFG missed an opportunity to add a generic Assassin Droid to the game with that mission. You control 2 IG-88 copies without his Assault ability in that mission. That was the only difference but it might have been better served to have made actual deployment cards for the 2 copies as you use 2 tokens and the 1 copy of the IG-88 deployment card for both of them. Got me thinking:

Assassin Droid(generic/grey)

9 pts

+1 block

+2 accuracy

~ = +2 damage

Arsenal(as per IG-88's deployment card)

Ruthless(as per IG-88's deployment card)

8 hp

1 black defense die

Gun = ??

Thoughts?

Then they wouldn't be IG-88s. The idea is that you're fighting IG-88A, IG-88C and IG-88D all at once. They only lose Assault for balancing.

I'm aware that's what the mission is about but it's not uncommon for a mission to take a deployment card and alter stats to if for a specific mission which is what the IG-88 copies in "Droid Uprising" would fit under. I was aiming for a generic Assassin Droid that could fit in the game as an open slot in campaign or in skirmish.

Now if IG-88 wasn't unique then that'd be different.

Would be a great idea for a future expansion methinks.

They could do a Skirmish Upgrade, something like:

"You may include more than one IG-88 deployment card in your squad. If you do, reduce their squad point cost by 2. They cannot use Assault to perform multiple attacks."

It seems perfectly reasonable to include a generic HK unit at some point. It's the most obvious way to include another "droid" type unit.

Another assassin droid would desperately need assault, so that it could make the most use out of the card that grants droids another action.
