How many of each pack for Campaign only play?

By ricefrisbeetreats, in Imperial Assault Campaign

Planning on buying the core game for campaign play. I have other games to get my skirmish fix, so I don't plan on doing any skirmish play.

Can someone tell me how many of each miniature is usable in the Campaign play? I bought the IG-88 pack and it looks like 3 IG-88 minis are usable in that side mission. I don't want to buy 4 Royal Guard Champions only to find out that you can only use one in any Campaign.

Thanks!

1 each for named characters. They are unique as denoted by the little black square before their name on their deployment card. Probably don't need more than 1 of each non unique group like Rebel Troopers/Saboteurs.

So it's mostly a 1-of for everything? What about the 3 IG-88s used in that side mission the IG-88 blister comes with?

You don't actually need 3 copies of the pack. The core set comes with a copy of the IG-88 deployment card and a token of him so buying a villain pack gets you the actual mini and a 2nd deployment card. You can use the IG-88 token and a green token to represent him(as per the mission) to make it easier during play instead of 2 green tokens. You're basically just short a single deployment card so just keep track of which token is used 1st then exhaust the deployment card after the 2nd token is used, which makes using the IG-88 token from the core set an even better idea. Just remember the token IG-88's don't have the "Assault" ability of the real IG-88.

Now that I think about it, that mission would be better done if FFG had produced 2 generic Assassin Droid deployment cards in the pack rather than using a copy of the IG-88 card and telling you not to use his 1 ability for the copies even if they were only usable in that specific mission. Missed opportunity on FFG's part there to add a generic Assassin Droid just to add a new option.

Yeah, the whole thing threw me off. I'll probably end up buying multiple IG-88s because my group hates using tokens to represent characters, but it's not something I'll do right away.

Say I don't use any of the side missions included in the ally/villain packs and only use the missions included in the core set. Are there any missions where I would encounter tokens rather than miniatures and which characters are they?

The core set mission "Fly Solo" uses both IG-88 and Han Solo so those would be a time the tokens from the core are used unless you have to minis to use. Multiple missions use the General Wiess AT-ST which also has a token if you don't have the villain pack yet. There's no point in the Luke and Vader tokens as their packs come in the core set. Not really sure about the Royal Guard Champ, Chewie or the Rebel troopers & saboteurs in campaign missions off the top of my head.

Thanks. Looks like I'll be picking those up soon then. If you happen to get a chance and flip through the campaign booklet, let me know if you notice any others. Thanks for all the help! Looks like I'll be buying this next paycheck!

Everyone but the 3 Rebel Troopers pop up in verious missions as far as a quick flip through the book shows but they might be in there somewhere(why else include tokens for them?). Chewie, Rebel saboteurs are in 1 mission each. IG-88, Solo, RG Champ and Vader are in a few. Luke in 1 or 2. General Weiss in 3 or 4 maybe.

Rebel Troopers appear in the side mission of Gideon Argus (Friends of Old)

The rebel troopers are Gideon's reward card basically.
