Total number of Hero & Monster Collections planned?

By SlimShady0208, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hello community,

I have a simple question and I didn't find a proper answer by now. Is there any information on how many H&M Collections are going to be released. I currently own everything of Descent 2nd Edition except the H&M Collections and the Co-Op Adventures. I am now struggeling on the decision to start buying the H&M Collections. When I start buying, I think I would like to have them all. ;)

But with a regular price of 35$ each and let's say 10 or 15 collections, this will lead me to a lot of money and I would think of it twice. :P

So is there any information of the total number of collections.

Best regards,

SlimShady

Good question. I'm guessing that they will keep doing them. Depending on where you live (I see these prices in the USA) you can get these collections online for around $24 USD.

FFG has not definitively stated how many there will be.

Since, however, the H&M collections are based on re-releasing heroes and monsters from D1e (basically re-doing what came with the Conversion Kit), you can probably estimate how many there would be to cover all of the heroes and monsters from D1e.

There is no guarantee, however, that:

  1. They will release all heroes and monsters from D1e
  2. They will limit themselves to those found in D1e. In other words, they could ultimately choose that format to release new heroes and monsters never before seen.

You don't have to buy them ALL .

Just check for the monster or heroes that interest you the most according to forum discussion and pictures.

Also, all the minis can be useful if you are playing other games such as D&D.

You don't have to buy them ALL .

Some of the worst advice EVER. Of course you MUST have it all. If you don't, OCD kicks in ... :P :D

And you call yourself a gamer ... LOL

Or learn to paint and it will cover 2 hobbies.

FFG has not stated what they're doing in terms of hero and monster packs. So far, as has been pointed out, they've only re-released heroes and monsters from the first edition with new art and some tweaked abilities.

What can be said for sure is that if they are re-releasing all of the heroes and monsters from the first edition (and no original monsters/heroes), the packs will not all be the same:

There are 48 heroes and 25 monsters in the conversion kit. Assuming they stick to the current model of 4 heroes and 3 monsters per pack, that's 8 packs (6 have been released/announced already) comprising a total of 32 heroes and 24 monsters. That leaves 1 monster group and 16 heroes unaccounted for, which either will not be released, or will be released in a pack of some other size. That's all just math- what FFG will actually do is anyone's guess- there isn't even a guarantee that they'll release more of these packs than have been announced.

Also the monster packs is not that expensive and you get lots of monsters and heroes to paint.

HEY, don't judge me !!!

Seriously, I do own them all and will continue to buy everything coming out for this game.

But if money is an issue, there is a way to be more selective and still enjoy the H&M pack.

Pretty sure you know I am teasing ... but just in case ...

I am teasing. :P

Don't worry I know from your posts and general attitude that you are the friendly kind with the friendly teasing !

If they are only doing D1E they won't be able to continue with their current 3 monsters per set. I figure the last 2 will have to only have 2 monsters in them. But they should also be bigger monsters like the Demon.

Agree. I can't have just part of it. I am a player and collector of this game. I buy it ALL.

Well, the exception for me is lieutenant packs. I have only got 2 of those. Those are more of a bonus to the collection.

I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not to sell off the 1e minis and conversion kit cards that are being replaced by the hero/monster collections. Does anyone have an opinion on keeping vs selling your 1e stuff?

i'm keeping my 1e stuff. I have every thing and you never know when I might want to go back and play that version. The conversion kit wasn't that expensive.

maybe I should sell my entire 1e set? I wonder how much it goes for?

Why do we all love this game so much? What is it about Descent that grabs us? I too MUST have all the expansions and lieutenants. This game really satisfies the gamer in me.

I've got the complete 1e, including all lieutenants, promo heros and the realms of terrinoth promo missions. It's all in the original boxes and takes up lots of space that could be used for other games. I've not played 1e for 5 1/2 years, since the first of my children arrived, because i no longer have the time for such a long game.

I should get rid of it but..... I love 1e so much. So many fantastic memories.

Since 2e came out topic of selling 1e has regularly come up, but I've always had an excuse to hold onto it. Once the H&M collections cover enough 1e models I won't be able to hide behind that excuse anymore.

That sounds like an impressive collection. You should hold onto it for as long as you can! IF you should ever think about selling it then please let me know. I really enjoy D2e and would love to see how the original D1e fares. But please try to hang on to it for as long as possible! Your kids will start getting older and you'll start to have some adult time back.

I have absolutely everything. i'm a completionist.

So many H&Ms. So little cash.

So many H&Ms. So little cash.

ya. Its a lot easier when you have been collecting since the beginning, and can just buy things as they come out.

For now, I have everything except the H&M, co-op adventures and campaingn books. Will take some time to get these, tough.

For some it's shoes, for others it's cars.... for me, it's Descent!

Must... buy... everything!
