Saga Predictions and Wishes

By Fingolfin Fate, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

Will Sam have a chance to be the ring-bearer?

Will Meneldor appear in Box IV as an ally?

Will "The Souring of the Shire" be the last quest in Box IV? (It's a important part of the book, and I don't want to see a POD either.)

Glad to see the twins of ally version in Box V.

I believe we'll get Saga POD like "Old Forest" every year from Gen Con of Fellowship event even after the Lord of the RIngs LCG ends.

Meneldor, yes, I almost forgot about him. Not Box IV, however, Box VI would be where he should arrive: he came with the Eagles to the Black Gate. It would be really cool to get another unique Eagle. I feel like we still need more Eagles, and Eagle cards to make the strategy really efficient. I think they learned it for Ents, where even Ent Draught is given the Ent trait. For Eagles, only the Eagles are Coming! has been given it (outside the characters).

We need a eagle hero" that will be cool!

Oathbreaker ally. :)

Warden of Healing; New healing ally.

New Eomer

New outland allies, but then without the Outlands trait, just Gondor trait.

Prince Imrahil

Eowyn

Denethor

Gamling

Farmer guy in The Shire who helps the Hobbits remake the Shire.

Cirdan

Grey Company allies

Oh yes, Outlands without Outlands. But we're not getting it, I fear. However, the troops pouring to the White City should be represented in the box. Though we're now getting Reinforcements event in an adventure pack.

Elladan/Elrohir as allies would be great, indeed.

Spirit Aragorn! Obviously ;)

A new Frodo version would be cool too!

Sadly, I don't think we'll get a Spirit Aragorn because 1) a fellowship Aragorn is likely to be in the box, and 2) the designers don't like to repeat heroes from the Core Set in the saga boxes. :(

if there has been enough of one character in the game, then it is Aragorn: three regular hero versions plus Fellowship. If anything, it would be cool to have an ally in one of the future cycles but please no more of him instead of other characters: yes, I'm looking at you Tom Bombadil, Goldberry, Círdan, Thranduil, ally Elladan/Elrohir, a ton of generic allies of all traits.

I just want an Aragorn ally so I can complete the Fellowship.

I want the Blue Wizards, the descendants of Daín Ironfoot, Easterling heroes. I want it all.

And I want it now... :D

Yeah, and it would be cool if the ally version came in Spirit.

On the other hand, if the game keeps doing well, we will inevitably see a Spirit Aragorn hero. I just hope the game does keep doing well for at least three or four years, and that this version is somewhat more distant. I know the designers stated that they wish the game did so well they could make every major character into all four spheres eventually. It is certainly a nice prospect. Though I somehow feel, three spheres is best for a single character, so that you can somehow make him distinctive by the sphere you do not include him in. It works nice with the factions too, that some spheres are omitted in general: Rohan really doesn't feature in Lore (save Gléowine, perhaps). etc. For Aragorn, however, Spirit probably feels inevitable, though he gets the icon through the Celebrían's Stone since the core set.

I would like to see Tactics Glorfindel one day. With some wicked attack options, you know, for slaying Balrogs a bit more easily...

Here's my long list of heroes that I'd like to see in either the saga boxes or future cycles.

New Heroes:

  1. Arwen
  2. Thranduil
  3. Cirdan
  4. Gamling
  5. Gildor
  6. Radagast
  7. Anborn or Damrod
  8. Bofur or Dori
  9. Iarion or another Dunedain
  10. Orophin or Rumil

Alternate Heroes:

  1. Bilbo in Le or S (His current version is over costed, and Bilbo is a big enough character to deserve an alternate, preferably with higher willpower)
  2. Faramir in Le or T (This seems inevitable)
  3. Gimli in Lo (Broaden sphere choices for the fellowship, and give this clever dwarf his due. His ability should complement Legolas' ability. Not as much as Elladan and Elrohir, but more so than the current Gimli and Legolas, who don't really make a great team.)
  4. Legolas in S (He doesn't tire while hunting and fears not the dead, he's got spirit. Maybe when he gets a kill, he can unexhaust a hero who was committed to the quest?)
  5. Sam in T or S (and/or ring bearer Sam, I would love to replay the saga with Sam as the ring bearer and Frodo as his defender)
  6. Denethor in Le
  7. Eowyn in T
  8. Aragorn in S (I don't feel too strongly about this, because it might be best to keep him out of one sphere.)

I think most of these are inevitable and we'll probably see them in the near future.

I really really like this idea! We are inevitably going to see more characters have multiple hero versions anyway and this is a good way to still make each character unique.

There are many characters I can think of that I could easily see done in other spheres except for one; Legolas for example could fit into lore or spirit but doesn't seem like a good fit in leadership. Someone like Eomer I could not see in Lore for example but could see in Leadership or Spirit. Man now you've just got me going through every hero in my head to see which sphere they would be least suitable for thematically :P

I'm really, like REALLY, hoping for a Gildor.

I actually really want a Spirit Aragorn so that Ring of Barahir's secondary ability can make sense in a solo deck. I'd like to be able to use Aragorn to help with resource fixing in a Spirit-Lore deck, but Lore Aragorn can't become Spirit without adding the Leadership sphere.

Some day, I'd like to make a Lore-Spirit Elrond-Galadriel-Aragorn deck where each hero can cover the others' spheres once their attachments are in play.

Glad I did, haha.

I really think two or three versions of a hero are great. I start with one of my favourite, Boromir, although some people misread him sometimes, he doesn't really seem to fit into Lore, even though he actually saved the Company of the Ring by suggesting to bring fire-wood to Caradhras. Spirit could be interesting though. So, if you have Boromir in Le-Ta-Sp, Faramir could be Le-Ta-Lo and Denethor Le-Sp-Lo.

To be realistic though, I do not think we shall see another Boromir in a long, long while, if ever. But we should get a new Faramir and Denethor within the next two saga boxes.

I'm really, like REALLY, hoping for a Gildor.

Yeah, Gildor Inglorion is a wonderful character. We should get a hero version of him, hopefully in this very cycle.

Speculation on Hasufel:

Obviously attachment ;)

(2) Leadership Unique

Mount.

Attach to a Noble hero or Aragorn.

Response: After you engage an enemy with a threat lower than attached character's willpower, exhaust Hasufel to ready attached character.

(It should represent that, even unwilling, horses of the Dunedain followed Aragorn to the Paths of dead just because of the shear willpower of Aragorn.)

Maybe I would even add:

If there is a Rohan hero in play, reduce cost to play Hasufel by 1

or even:

Action: Exhaust Rohan hero to reduce cost to play Hasufel by 2
