How Would Juno work with Ion Tokens?

By Marinealver, in X-Wing

So here is a question, I know there is a rules section but well for one this card is not released and subject to change and there really is no FAQ or rules to clarify the final say.

But back to Ion tokens and Juno's ability?

So Ion tokens force a white 1 straight maneuver. Juno can increase the speed or decrease the speed to a minimum of 1 (assuming there is a maneuver template). So can Junot make it a White 2 straight instead?

Isn't her ability done after revealing her maneuver.. so I would say no, she can't change it.

Her ability can only activate when revealing her dial. Since you skip the reveal dial phase for that ship when ionned, she cannot use her ability.

I was going to say as above.

The ability is when you reveal your dial.

You don't reveal when ion'd

Perfect example....

Tourney this weekend, playing the Warthogs list

I ioned all 4 of his ships on the board, my opponent had no dials to place due to the mandatory 1 white straight maneuver

So as stated Juno doesnt get to pull shenigans while ioned

Okay but some things that have shenanigan Ion tokens.

  • You can now use R2 to turn the white 1 straight maneuver to green maneuver
  • You can now decloak when ionized

So are we sure that Juno won't get ion shenanigans with a pre-release FAQ?

Unless you are stressed, you always get your action after being ioned...

That said.. decloak isn't an action ... and the R2.. I'm not sure, but I think that has been covered.. I just dont play rebels a lot.. ok.. almost never..

They'd have to errata the card, not simply FAQ it. Such a change would also make Daredevil interesting on her.

Neither of those examples are contingent on you revealing a maneuver dial. With ion tokens you don't place a dial, hence there is nothing to reveal. Same reason it stops Adv Sensors.

DD is an action from an EPT... her ability won't work on it.. her ability triggers off of her revealing her dial.

Wait.. did someone say Juno's ability triggers off revealing her dial?!!

Yes. No dial reveal, no ability.

Similarly, she can't change the turn from a Daredevil action into a 2-speed.

You can now use R2 to turn the white 1 straight maneuver to green maneuver

That's because R2 Astromech turns all speed 1-2 maneuvers white, it doesn't rely on a dial being revealed.

Same with Nien Numb.

Thanks :)

The common misunderstanding about R2 Astromech, seems to come from people thinking that the Ion effecturns a 1 straight green into a 1 straight white. There is a rule that states that an effect that makes a maneuver more difficult trumps one that makes it less difficult. White having a higher difficulty than green.

But Ion's don't turn a green maneuver white, it is simply a maneuver you have to perform. So R2 or Nien Numb work because there's nothing that changed the difficulty in the first place.
