Corrans Squad

By father911, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Corran Horn - E wing 46
R2-F2 3

Experimental Interface 3

Marksmanship 3

Fire Control System 2

Biggs Darklighter - X wing 29
Hull Upgrade 3
R4-D6 1

Tarn Mison - X wing 25
R7 Astromech 2

I play casual games almost exclusively so this is my first attempt at a "competitive" list. I've attempted to build a list that hits hard while having some durability. Corran is the heavy hitter with EI, FCS and Marksmanship giving both of his double tap attacks a target lock + super focus. R2-F2 combined with the experimental interface is for the off turn to help keep him alive giving either an evade and 4 agility or a focus and 4 agility (could the Mathwingers provide numbers as to which is better?)

Corran is going to be a huge target so luke has lent him his best friend Biggs. Biggs role is simply to tail Corran and soak damage while providing support fire, The hull upgrade and R4-D6 are intended to keep him in the fight longer. i have also considered dropping them for R2-D6 and Wingman as Corran needs to shed stress to remain effective. I'm not sure if the stress shedding is worth giving up the durability, thoughts?

Tarn Mison is my end game ship, Corran is a big target and Biggs needs to be chewed through first so I expect Tarn to get a relatively free ride until the later game where his pilot ability and R7 will provide survivability to the X winngs natural offensive power. The other option is to Drop Tarn and take two headhunters, but my Gut says that Tarns defense and offence exceed a pair of headhunters.

Comments and suggestions welcome.

I have no idea what half of that says, covered up with white highlights over white text.

id swap r2-f2 for a different mech, I found r7 works well on corren as well as tarn but there are a lot of options that cud work, id drop EI, for something like outmanoeuvre or PTL, and id swap r4-d6 for either r2-d2 or r5-d8 or r5-p9.

id then use the spare points for either an initiative bid or hull upgrade on corren

tarn is great, tho id play test with two z-95 see which works best for you.

Not certain why you are seeing that. Perhaps there is something wrong with your settings? Thank you for attempting to read it.

I think i will swap the hull upgrade and r4d6 for r2d2, in retrospect that is a much more durable build.

on Corran the only way to get a focus effect on both shots is marksmanship and once that is chosen EI is the only option for action economy. as such r2-f2 can be activated with the EI. Outmaneuver instead of Marksmanship is an interesting option but it is situational, I think I prefer the Target lock super focus that can be used every time. Same as r7, it only works against ships that Corran has a target lock on, which will be the ship he just shot at r2-f2 works against every ship.

You've given me lots to think about, Thank you.

r4-d6 is a uniquely "**** your HLC" astromech

it functions better the lower agility you have (i.e, the less damage you can cancel the more it works) and the more health you have (because every shot will only do maximum of 2 damage). It's hilarious on Y-wings and just side-splitting on Biggs.

It's not a good astro for E-wings (3 agility + evade)

If you're running PTL, r2 astro would be a far more effective use of your 1 point. R2-D2 is by far the most popular, though, because that regen combines very well with Corran's ability to cancel damage via agility and evade.

Given that, would you run r4-d6 with a hull upgrade (4 pts) or r2-d2 (4 pts) on Biggs?

r4-d6 + hull by a mile (though arguably could drop hull, depending on what else you could provide the squadron with such as R2-D2 for corran)

the X-wing is too crappy on its own for Biggs to last long enough for R2-D2 to start mattering

this is why Corran is such a good vessel for it, 3 agility + focus + evade make it extraordinarily difficult to kill and ensure you get plenty of triggers off
