One of my players was trying to get a tech-priest to make hiw a chrono with a mono-wire in it last session, which got me to wondering about things that your players carry around that are useful but not adressed by the rulebooks. As another example, a player of mine is always sure to have a roll of duct tape, and a third has an anorak for concealing his face. Not rules for them, bt roleplaying it out can certainly have an effect on things
Any odd or interesting gear your acolytes have?
My guys picked up some quirky stuff as rolls on the career and home world momentos tables. One memorable item was a copper nugget that the tech priest carried with him. He frequently ended up using it to bridge circuits and switches (jamming it in when all else failed) when he was stuck for the proper materials.
Hmmm .... one of my characters has the severed foot of a dwarf he carries around as his charm from their second major war scenario.
The same character has continuously upgraded the multi barrelled shotgun he purchased at character creation, reinforcing the barrells and handle so he can use it as a club as well - having a shock divice installed so he can activate it and use it as a shock club upon occasion, installing a hallowed compartment in the handle so he can have a Rambo style survival kit in his rifle, and a few other details I can't recall.
That is all I can think of at the moment.
I just remembered that one of my dad's characters from his RPG days used to carry a vial of oil and a bag of marbles. Insta-Difficult Terrain
Well, for equipment that my Acolytes have (and not going to say NPCs since eyes seem to wander...) the only notable one is one of the PCs, an Untouchable Moritat Assassin, created an "Assassination" blade that was alright that was essientially a short sword in a bracer that covers the arm and one of the religious symbols of the Moritat.
Bad part was, he never got to use it before it was stolen.
You're so going to make me paranoid that someone is walking around with my bracer. =P
Or your bracer will be walking around with a person attached to it.
Or your Inquisitor will have it, and if you even think about taking it back...
My tech-priest that I'm playing has implanted a full Vox-caster into himself. The equipment isn't that odd, but it's a lot of fun to have him be able to just start tuning into radio transmissions and listening in. Great for group coordination, too.
I was doing a bit of loot and gear tidying up on my players sheets when I found the following -
WARBOSS HEAD
It was written prominently on the front of the character sheet - clearly a trophy.
I then went through the team loot and found this gem in between the laspistols and stub revolvers section -
2 x APCs
After some discussion, I vaguely remember them stealing a pair of APCs to "donate to Inquisitor Kaede - he sure does love his free vehicles!"
I had my Tech Priest build me a Armageddon/Vanheim Combi weapon. He also just modified my replacement eye, slightly bulky optical implant, with a concealed compact las.It has a 3 shot capacity before the whole eye must be removed to recharge the power cell. I now have a constant minor headache as the power cell is pressing up against my brain.
We also have a command rhino that we took from the local arbities. He has rewritten the machine spirit with the help of some xenos scrap code that the whole party is infected with.
The Noble-born Assassin in my group has a micro-picter built into his hunting rifle, which plugs into a tiny screen in his monocle via his recoil glove. That's right, using his recoil glove, he can see what his gun sees, record his sight picture to confirm his kills, and do all this with only one hand. Personally, I'm waiting for him to try and hook it up to the vox and try to get satellite TV...
The Adept-Medicae in my group had a Tech-Priest create a bracer with two spring loaded tracks, one track housing a hypo-needle usually loaded with a dose of Morphia-V though he'll load it up with poisons he concocts as well. The other tack used to be loaded up with 6 compact krack grenades with adhesive and a remote fuse that could be triggered with a coded binary squirt from his vox-box. He had this contraption made and hidden up his sleeves so he could casually pat someone on the back and plant a bomb or discreetly inject something into someone with little fuss.
