Choosing between YT-3700 lists for Regionals

By Gibarian, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm gonna go with a pair of pancakes for my day at Regionals. Yes, I have chosen the dark side.

It will be a competitive squad, but best of all it's one of the least mentally-taxing lists to bring, and will keep me from checking out by game 3.

I'm still kind of waffling between pilots. Chewie/Leebo or Chewie Dash....

Version 1 (100 pts):

Chewbacca

> Predator

> Recon Specialist

> Jan Ors

> Falcon title

Leebo

> Mangler Cannon

> Predator

> Recon Specialist

> Outrider title

Notes:

- I've used this combo before so I'm very familiar with flying it

- Their pilot abilities combined with the defensive upside of RecSpec/Jan/MF title can keep them alive

- It has consistent offense between Pred/RecSpec. Pred is particularly useful against low PS swarms and can let you remove threats before they shoot

Version 2 (100 pts):

Chewbacca

> Veteran Instincts

> C-3P0

> Falcon title

Dash

> Mangler Cannon

> PTL

> Nien Nunb

> Engine Upgrade

> Outrider title

Notes:

- I think this is a list with less inherent synergy, but more tuned against the meta

- Dash can arc-dodge swarms, which may be a better strategy than trying to just hammer them down with version 1

- VI on Chewie is probably a non-standard upgrade for this list archetype, but I really want it there -- not only does it let the ships move in either sequence, it can protect Dash from Rebel Captive erasing 7 points worth of upgrades every turn

- PS 7 also wins the Initiative battle against most dual IG builds

- Susceptible to bad rolling/inability to lay on damage, since Chewie has no offensive upgrades and Dash might frequently use his action(s) for maneuvering

I simply can't decide which list is better against the developing meta. V1 probably handles other pancake lists better, and possibly does better against TIE swarms. V2 may be better against BBBB+ lists and Scum lists.

I like both lists a lot (and will try them for sure!). I'm a big fan of Chewie+Leebo.

For the first list, I don't see you needing the Millenium Falcon title since Recon Specialist makes you want to always Focus.

The second list seems solid and you're right, the dual-Aggressor builds are very common so it's nice to fire first.

I'd say the first list is more balanced maybe? Strong survivability and decent offense. The second list has more maneuverability though, with Dash's great ability. I would go with Version 1 myself, but like I mentioned, I prefer and I am more familiar with Chewie+Leebo.
