Double Decis?

So I try to get on the forums and at least skim through any new articles every couple days, so I appollogize now if this is a dead horse....if links for this or a similar convo exist, please post them

So last month a guy at a local tournament ran double Decis and went 3 rounds of tournament 100-0. Took first place. Sadly, the only thing I can remember about his list is that he had ruthlessness on both. Using that as inspiration, I ran my own double deci to take 2nd place this past weekend. I originally ran it as a joke not expecting to do that well because I had left some ships at home for the list I originally wanted to run.

Game one I played against 2x Scyk/HLC, Serissu HLC/PTL, the PS 0 HWK-290 guy with an ion or Blaster. A very good player, but came in with very little sleep which drastically affected his play. Serissu bumped one of her own ships early on and since she had no tokens and can't reroll herself I focuse her down in one turn. Then another Scyk the turn after. Then we called it. I thought all the HLCs would eat me alive, but through bumps and boosts, I was able to pull through without losing a ship

Game 2 I played against Chewbo. One of our newest players, but a real fast burner. (He took first this tournament) Having played against Chewy a million times, I have a habit of focusing down Chewy first since he can be a real pain in the end game. This ended up costing me, as Leebo happily lit up both of my Decis with HLC which easily cost me the game. I did have Leebo down to 2 hull, but to be fair, he lost 3 of his shields from asteroids.

Game 3 was against RAC with Ysanne, Expose,Vader, and Engine Upgrade? and Fel with PTL, Tgt Comp, Stealth Device. Also a very good player, but made some bad mistakes. Game was over in about 10 minutes. Turn 1 I stripped his Decis shields then Vadered him to make him PS 0, turn 2 his RAC bumped my RAC and his Fel bumped my Oicunn. My RAC fired at Fel and one shotted him with a hit and a direct hit, which left us with a 2 vs 1 deci match.

Having played with double deci, it's dials are okay(made better with boost) and it has 32 "agi 0" hit points with turrets. I understand Expert Handling is terrible on Oicunn, but tried it just to be funny and didn't see anything else for 2 points that I liked, though seismic charge did cross my mind. I don't feel like 3 games is a enough experience to accurately gauge whether or not double Deci would be a viable Regionals tournament list, so I'm turning to all you Xwing experts on the forums.

Obvious weaknesses I see are Super Dash/HLCs, TIE/Z-95 swarm, and anything spamming autothrusters

Main points though...

1.Can double Decis be competitve enough for against common Meta builds at a regionals level?

2. What's the best load out for the Decis?

3. Any terrible matchup besides swarm?

1) I know of a few player that intend to run them at a regional. I don't know if a regional has been won by a double Deci list, but given the diversity of the lists in top 8 and winning; I believe its competitive.

2) The list I have seen (and played against) is Ociunn+Gunner+Vader RAC+RC+VI. I don't think there is a "best" in x wing... ever.

3) BBBBz, rebel control, battle bros should be an uphill fight. Also autothrusters could cause you issues.

The double deci is an uphill fight for Decimator+Fel. I can attest to that much.

I'm curious: did you ever actually activate Expert Handling?

Apparently a regional in the UK was won by a double deci build just recently.

Dauntless, Moff J, or Seismic charges would all be a better spent 2 points than EH, in my opinion

Double Deci seem great to me. I'm not sure how it would survive against BBBBZ. The RAC can try to boost out of arc. Fly the decimators around the asteroids, dragging your opponents through the obstacles and avoiding the joust.

My son came up against an Oicunn/Patrol Leader build at our local FLGS Store Championship and finished it off in 10 minutes with 4 B's with Accuracy Correctors. This was his top 4 game.

I also ran dual Decimators this last weekend and went 3-2. Lost to dual IG's and a TIE Fighter/bomber swarm. My list was:

RAC with predator, captive, engine, Intel agent

Patrol leader with Vader

The auto thrusters were tough to punch through, and trying to keep the IG's in arc felt like an exercise in futility. It really took me off my game because I usually want my opponent trying to chase my decimator.

Against the swarm, one of my decis was quickly corralled and melted under all those guns in two turns. I think I only took out one bomber.

I was prepared to see lots of Soontir Fel, but out of 10 people, there were no Soontirs :(

I plan to run 2 Patrol Leaders, 2 Engine Upgrades, and 6 Tacticians eventually. I know Tactician is front arc only but if god forbid you get triple stressed you're done for. Can't think of a better troll team than that.

I'm curious: did you ever actually activate Expert Handling?

I used it 2 twice for movement positioning planning ahead for the next turn(to avoid asteroids or parking lots), and once to actually arc dodge. Oicunn being PS4, the only chance I had to arc dodge was during game 1.
