Interdictor / Immobilizer 418-Class Cruiser

By DiabloAzul, in Star Wars: Armada

Earlier today I came across Mel's amazing Interdictor miniature at Shapeways and I knew I had to have one. I didn't see any cards for it at the time, so I made my own. They're certainly going to need tweaking, and the costing is pure guesswork - but it's something for now:

EDIT: Wes Janson also made some cards for this ship, with a more involved Gravity Well system that can be turned on and off. You can find them here.

Amazing stuff. How did you make the cards?

Thanks! I used RogueKnight's excellent Photoshop templates. You can find them here.

RogueKnight also came up with a formula for calculating cost - it works out as 49 for my Interdictor's stats, so I guess I wasn't too far off. Anyway, it's the Title cards that I'm worried about...

OK. Im using those too, but Im new to photoshop and Im stumbling badly. Im working on making a card set for the Nuertaon Star Bulk Cruiser.

I cant seem to get the die color to change. Also, the blue-ish looking overhead view of the ship in the middle of the arcs. I dont even know where to begin with that. Any suggestions for getting me up to speed with photoshop?

Oh man, I wouldn't know where to begin. I've been using it for over a decade so it's all second-nature to me.

The die color can be changed by applying a "Color Overlay" layer effect. There are invisible "Red" and "Blue" layers within the "Weapons" group; you can choose one of them and "Copy Layer Style", then "Paste Layer Style" on the dice you want to change.

For the overhead view of the ship, and the ship icon on the bottom-left corner, you want to do pretty much the same (a blue color overlay with some transparency and/or "Screen" blend mode, and a plain black color overlay, respectively).

I'd recommend looking up a Layer Effects tutorial online, that will go a long way!

Ooooh, we need a Black Asp title! :D

Nice work mate

I really like the Grappler's title effect. Seems thematic and interesting and useful. In general all your title cards are really creative!

The Harpax card is beautiful, and the card's effect very thematic. Well done! :)

As for a ship specific upgrade card, perhaps a missile jamming field that reduces black dice damage suffered by half for a single turn?

These are an excellent way of bringing in Grav Generator rules/effects into the game without breaking it. Well done.

My 2 cents:

Should only be 5 hull, as they are notoriously fragile for a capital ship. And the cost seems a bit low. But looks really good, now only needs it's hyperspace effecting ability built in ;)

This is the best thing ever - when this comes in Armada I will buy in.

If I can get a plus size version aka x-wing huge ship size I'll throw my money at it ASAP. I have an edge of the empire campaign where a major antagonist commands an Immobilizer. I'd like to see one on the table for my PCs to try to escape.

I agree the cost should probably be closer to 50, as it's only marginally worse than a Nebulon-B (which has somewhat better armament and maneuverability, but slightly less durability). I'll probably adjust it in a future version, and I might lower the anti-squadron attack to blue+black while at it. I don't think hull needs to be lowered, though; it may be fragile for a capital ship, but it's still a capital ship - and at 600m, a whole category above Nebulon B.

If you'd prefer a built-in GW ability, you may want to try Wes Janson's cards instead :)

Ya I figured an upgrade card approach since you hit up the named card method would be cool. Adds options I guess. I think I am going to change the Gravity Well effect to distance 1-5 instead of board wide. Seems a little nuts at that size.

Just got word that my FUD Interdictor is shipped and should be arriving this Thursday. I'll be sure to post pictures as soon as I have it, and then more pictures as soon as I've painted it.

Added a small base (it really does look better), and a new title card:
