Ship Card Boosters [Work In Progress

By ElizLestrad, in Star Wars: Armada

Since the commander cards have already been chosen for the current Wave 1 and Wave 2 ships, I would like to but forward a request to FFG to make a card booster pack available to expand on the key characters and ships that got thrown under the bus. Thus instead of having to make more booster packs with ship models, FFG can simply print card packs for Imperial and Rebel ships using the templates and graphics they already have. This would make production go extremely fast and cut down on the pack costs. Some ship cards that are missing:

Corellian Corvette - Tantive IV

Nebulon B - Redemption (Battle of Endor)

VSD - Tyrant (disabled by ion cannon during Battle of Hoth)

ISD II - Avenger (persued Falcon in E.S.B.)

ISD - Devastator (captured Tantive IV)
ISD - Gorgon (Admiral Daala's flagship)
ISD II - Chimaera (Thrawn's flagship)

ISD - Ultimatum (Rae Sloan's ship) [see A New Dawn]

ISD - Perilous (Darth Vader's flagship prior to the Executor) [see Lords of the Sith]

Commanders:

Admiral Ozzel

Admiral Piett

Grand Admiral Thrawn

Admiral Daala

Officers & Staff

Captain Rae Sloan

Captain Needa

Count Denetrius Vidian

Rebel Commanders:

Rebel Officers & Staff

Crix Madine

Anyone else have any obvious snubs that could be added?

Extremely unlikely to happen.

We do need a Chimera title and Thrawn though.

The Tantive IV is in the CR90 expansion, and the Redemption is in the core set.

I doubt we'll see card packs for the simple reason of X-Wing not having gone that path, but distribution for this game may well end up being a large departure from X-Wing. We shall see. They may do a pack similar to Most Wanted for X-Wing, and offer one mini and its cards, then some upgrades for other thematically connected ships.

Card boosters could be pretty cool, but it is highly unlikely that FFG will ever do them. Sadly it doesn't appear to be in their business practices to release card only expansions for miniatures games. X-Wing would love them too, but oh well.

If they were to do it I would want a 'Thrawn Era' type expansion, with Thrawn himself as an Admiral, Pallaeon as an Officer/Crew. Chimaera as a Title. Nogi Bodyguard as a crew.

Mara Jade as a rebel crew (since this is more or less when she turned). Bel Ibis we already got. Bork Fey'la as an Admiral for the Reb's.

Stuff like that.

Tyrant was Imperial I-class destroyer ;) . Perilous and Ultimatium are from the new canon(Tyrant from old). Kill them with fire ;) .

Why would they do that, when they can continue to milk their customers for even more money?

There must be a Thrawn. Period.

While I think it would make more sense than X-Wing, for various reasons, I doubt it would happen. I also think "Aces" type packs don't really work either though, because you would have to do more than just change the color of an existing ship to justify the cost. They could do different variations of cap ships, for example there is a variant CR90 with a fighter hanger integrated at the center, with it could include cards that can convert the current CR90 to empire (as they used these as well), with new stats for the variant and technically give everyone a "new ship". They could even introduce new commanders and upgrades that help things overall. I know some people talk about getting 4+ corvettes and gladiators but I think most will max out on 2 copies of any single ship, at least that's what I think.
