New Photos of The Force Awakens characters and crew
It brought a huge smile to my face last year when I learned that Star Wars veterans composer John Williams, and co-writer Lawrence Kasdan are a part of this movie. I am happy they got into these pictures.
Now we have confirmation that First Order officer Captain Phasma is being portrayed by Gwendoline Christie.
Cpt Phasma? Not thrilled with many of these names....that just sounds like bad sci-fi

People probably said the same thing about Skywalker and Darklighter back in the day.

And Star Trek using Chronos for a ship and planet name.
Oh wait, it still does sound like bad sci-fi. Thought it then, still true today.

Or how about Dark Father. Wait, I mean Darth Vader. It's not like Lucas was telegraphing that one.

I imagine they probably didn't, actually. These names sound right at home for a sci-fi setting established in the late '70s.
That sith lord looks perfectly moody to be evil.
I love all of it! What a great time we have as fans of this great universe, with so much more coming. STAR WARS!

Can I also just have a moment of squee for whatever genius cast Brienne of Tarth as the Chrometrooper?
All black armor would have been better. Chrome makes zero sense for a tactical kit.
Her shiny armor is but merely a handicap for the rebel scum!

As a matter of visual rhetoric, though, it's pretty effective.
Camouflage effectiveness is relative to the surrounding environment. Bright and flashy might not be altogether terrible in the well lit corridors of a large starship.
I am really interested to find out it The First Order is a faction within The Empire or IS The Empire.

I am assuming that her armor also has unique qualities and defenses.
I would imagine so. Probably actually repels blaster fire or something like that.

Camouflage? You mean like the green Stormtroopers on Endor? Oh wait...

You act like white was ever smart.
The Empire (and the First Order by the looks of em') is WAYY into propaganda. Chrome armor is more photogenic (hologenic?) for the galactic masses.
And by the Empire I of course mean Disney
Well, the Empire's elite soldiers wore red and they were obsessed with cleanliness (seriously, even the guys on Endor wore sparkling white armor), so they were also pretty concerned with appearance.
