Unofficially Official; SW Armada Wave 1, May 12th

By Enquiringnewt, in Star Wars: Armada

What time roughly should we Aussies expect the goods to hit shelves of our Friendly Local Gaming stores if it's being released on May 12 in the US? I'd buy online but I really do like supporting the local guys.

Ahh, thank you, 3-6 weeks is pretty rough, I'm hoping some of my local stores get some goods flown in.

To be honest im just gonna order straight from an American online retailer on the twelth : waiting 3-6 weeks for Aus distributors to get it after America does is ridonculous .

i would support my local FLGS if there was a sensible delay but up to 6 weeks is insane (im also in Perth)

Well the crazy thing is we should have had it weeks ago, if only the manufacturers could ship to the various distributers. For some strange reason our little plastic toys go from China to the US and then come back this way again. Adding another 2-3 points of delay.

So, in effect 3-6 weeks would be right, because each point of delay and the weather between here and the US can all impact on the delivery of things.

Worth keeping in mind that FFG probably dont get payed until shipment is made, so they don't really want things to take too long either.

Western Australia???? You can't get any further Outer Rim than Perth (Tatooine).

I figured since the ports are in CA then perhaps the increase in IN deployments was to secure said ports, perhaps to provide increased incentive for certain workers to "redouble their efforts"... for their sake.

This is be best news I have heard in forever. Now my Armada can at least be decently rounded out instead of running cores all the time.

Until FFG starts to treat us Aussie like real people (akin to how it treats the Europeans with direct shipments from China), Im going to keep ordering via the US online retailers.

Isn't the reason why FFG ship from China to the US, and then from there to Australia because they don't have a distributor in Australia?

Maybe they should look into that ^.^

So, is FFG just kinda giving up on the idea of the Upcoming page being adequately updated then? Or is this rumor just speculation?
The days seem right. A release from distros on the 12th would mean most LGS would have stock on the 14th or 15th.

12th confirmed for UK distributor too (Esdevium, so will prob apply to Europe too). This means we should get it on Wednesday (or possibly Thursday) :)

The OP claims and appears to have insider information.

He (or she?) hasn't been wrong yet!

Well I can confirm that the pre-sales have shown up on my FLGS distributor's website for pre-order which is relatively new so I think Newt has it right.

I will look forward to seeing all the boxes of Imperial ships next week then!

I'll believe it when FFG updates their site. Until then, skepticism is warranted.

I just placed a large pre-order with a Canadian online store (1 of each ship, 2 of each squadron pack).

I wish I could support my FLGS in this instance, but I'm in Quebec and there's *at least* a 10% price difference on tax alone. Add that to the roughly 15-20% price difference pre-tax and it's a no brainer :P

I own a store. My distributors have updated the release date to 5/12/15 which is when they will ship it. Fortunately, one of them is very close so it should be in my store on the the 13th.

Whether it is fallout from the shipping delays or poor coordination, they certainly don't seem to be worrying all that much about the upcoming page. I think my favorite example forever will be the Raider article that stated it is "on it's way" to retailers while it's still listed as at the printer.

I haven't been paying much attention to it, and honestly, FFG should just blow it up. It would probably help both them and us to just generalize everything into anticipated releases by quarter. Tracking every step in the pipeline seems like it's a little daunting to stay on top of.

Hope this is true.

Just placed my order, I do not like my money not working for me so I order as late as possible.

1 Die Pack

1 Assault Frigate

1 Nebulon B

1 C. Corvette

2 Rebel fighter packs

1 Victory SD

2 Gladiators

2 Imperial fighter packs

Would be nice to get it by next weekend!

Same here. Qui est tu? :P

FLGS want us to buy at them in Quebec, but ****, when the final price (taxes and all) are calculated, it ends up being a 25-30% price difference.

Example with the core set:

Online: 99$ CAN (include taxes and shipping!)

FLGS: 125$ CAN (include taxes)

Wait until you see a local gaming store close and you will change your mind.

Just preordered a bunch

And that 25 bucks goes to maintaining play space you can use, feeding some pretty great unnapreciated people, and aiding the local economy. Now, I don't knkw about you, but I love buying my FLGS owners a meal now and again.

To be fair, it depends greatly on the FLGS. I've known one or two where the F stands for something a whole lot less polite than "Friendly" or "Favourite" :/

That said, a good way to look at it is would you be sad to see they close down? If yes, then they probably deserve having some extra money thrown at them from time to time ;)

That's just crazy... I don't blame you at all for buying online.

Hehe, I'm a hardcore gamer who only very recently has started buying his stuff online. I've thrown enough money at FLGS to pay an employee's salary for nearly a year. I think I've paid my dues in this regard ;)
