New Raider preview focusing on TIE Advanced is up

By Danthrax, in X-Wing

Vader with Engine Upgrade still gets 2 actions, so Barrel Roll and Boost are still great.

This looks neat:

Zertik Strom w/ Accuracy Corrector (or Sensor Jammers)

Carnor Jax w/ PTL

Dark Curse

Mauler Mithel

Academy Pilot

I see Dark Curse as being hard to kill.

I still like:

The Most Advanced List

Vader w/ Adv. Targeting Computer + EU + Predator

3 x Tempest Pilots w/ Accuracy Corrector

Edited by heychadwick

Juno, 28

Push, 3

X1/Adv Target Computer 1

Vader, 30

X1/Adv Target Computer 1

Engine Upgrade 4

Vesserly, 35

Veteran Instincts

That's amazing. I'd probably sub out PtL and the Engine for Predator on both TIE/ads but that's just me; the full dial turn-to-turn, plus taking a TL or Evade basically every turn seems preferable if you've already got Barrel Roll. Juno especially wants options, I think PtL without a green Turn has merit but other options can be as good.

man, I thought Juno was hot in Force Unleashed, but now she is even hotter!!!!!

I am definitely going to play with her....ship.....in xwing, come on, grow up guys.

I dunno,

Juno looks cool, but how is Vader not way better for 1 pt?

I would normally throw ptl on her, but then she just a worse Vader.

You could do some cool things with Stay on Target, however.

But to me, unless I'm running both, I'd pick Vader every time.

The problem is that Vader's ability is great, but he's limited to the weird/bad Advanced dial. It's the only ship in the game that doesn't have access to either a 1-straight or a 1-turn. It's limited to a single K-turn choice, which helps make it predictable. It can't really slow-roll, but it's also not particularly fast.

Juno has none of those issues. She has, quite literally, the best dial of any ship in the game, and she can adjust it on the fly. Her dial is so good, in fact, that it physically couldn't be printed: there are too many options.

Vader is great for one reason, and Juno is equally great for an entirely different reason.

Yay for Juno Eclipse. I can't wait to buy my raider. She's definitely going to run in my imperial group, probably in conjunction with Soontir and something else. Anybody got any good list ideas?

This?

Colonel Vessery (35)

Adrenaline Rush (1)

Juno Eclipse (28)

Push the Limit (3)

Advanced Targeting Computer (1)

TIE/x1 (0)

Soontir Fel (27)

Push the Limit (3)

Autothrusters (2)

Total: 100

Obviously you could replace Vessery with... a lot of things, at 36 points, but in this list he does something fun: your opponent can't really afford to either engage (because he'll just hit the gas and run while Fel and Eclipse tear things up) or ignore (because he's batting cleanup with 3 Attack and nearly guaranteed F+TL on Juno's target).

This I gotta try because Fel's one of my favourite pilot and I have a feeling Juno will join the ranks but instead of Colonel Vessery, I'll maybe go for Echo (another favourite) + Veteran Instincts + ACD. Just 1 point shy of 100 unless I include an Enhanced Scope. (Clearly I'm just putting all my favourites in one squad)

IF THEY COULD JUST GIVE US A RELEASE DATE.

Edited by Squad Leader Sanja Maque

Eh does this mean I'll have to buy a TIE ADV to get Vader and the Raider for the upgrades to him?

Suddenly this makes buying 3 TIE/Adv's way back when they were first released seem more like brilliant planning, rather than a bit of an oops.

Muhahaha.

Colzet with Accuracy Corrector. You have 2 standard hits every time, plus you can flip a card anywhere within range 3. Yeah, I'd flip that.

Colzet was pretty much made for Fire Control System. Seems pretty good.

I could also see the argument for Accuracy Corrector here. TL, get your guaranteed two hit results, then still have the TL in end phase.

Though yeah, the better option is probably FCS: use a Focus action due to his craptacular PS, shoot, modify with Focus, get the TL to burn at the end. He might also be nice to throw into a swarm with "Howlrunner".

And I also really, really want to fly him with Colonel Jendon and the ST-321 title. "What's that Chewie, you boosted to range five from my ships? No mind, Jendon and Colzet will team up to bypass your obnoxious pilot ability from a safe distance!"

I like this list:

Soontir Fel (36)

TIE Interceptor (27), Royal Guard TIE (0), Push the Limit (3), Autothrusters (2), Shield Upgrade (4)

Juno Eclipse (35)

TIE Advanced (28), TIE/x1 (0), Stay on Target (2), Engine Upgrade (4), Advanced Targeting Computer (1)

Captain Yorr (28)

Lambda-Class Shuttle (24), Intelligence Agent (1), Recon Specialist (3)

Juno takes a 2-straight, checks Intelligence Agent, then can turn to any 1-, 2-, or 3- maneuver. Yorr takes the stress. Heck maybe put two IAs on that shuttle for both Juno's and Fel's targets.

Needed to dust off some star wars rock in preparation for this announcement.

I am super excited to show this to my imperial friends. One of them has a Tie Fighter swarm, with 2 advances and a dedender. Another has like 4 interceptors, 3 phantoms, a shuttle and a deci. The last has a mix of 3 ties, an advanced, and like 4 or 5 bombers. Now I foresee them all with raiders and TIE advanced squadrons. This will make Epic games epic.

ETA:

It's not a list for Nightshrike, but it's one I'm planning to try out ASAP:

Darth Vader (29)

Predator (3)

Advanced Targeting Computer (1)

Engine Upgrade (4)

TIE/x1 (0)

Lieutenant Colzet (23)

Fire-Control System (0)

TIE/x1 (0)

Thanks! It'll give me the chance to use my defender for the first time ever.

Muhahaha.

My OCD has paid off. 4 Advanced are going to be fun. Heck, triple of the Uniques are going to be quite fun.

The model they used in the 360 view looks a lot like it want to compete with the derpfender for crooked wings. You'd think they would actually use a nice model in their previews, but they are not even trying to hide the recent lowered quality bar

The template can exist from another not as fun flight path system game, or more easily you just put a 1 on the end of a 5. Also, I do think all of those templates exist in the Attack Wing game system. Maybe I should buy the cheap template set made by Wizkids for D&D Attack Wing...  :o :( -_- <_<

They do not actually. All the banks are different (i.e. a 1-bank in X-Wing is shorter than a 1-bank in Attack Wing)

I think you are seeing things. Model looks fine to me.

I have not noticed any shift in quality. But did you notice the hair!?

This is neat!

imperial-tie-advanced-alt-600px.jpg

And yes, I did notice the hair and the fact that i have few pegs that are mounted straight these days, and have seen countless of IG's with arms/wings all over the place.

Derpfender wins by a mile.

but the real question is: and PALPATINE?

Where is PALPATINE and what will he do?

i need an answer, ASAP!!!!!

He can fly on a shuttle. Yup.

Did you hear about that one time he got Jar Jar into the senate? Good times...

I'm not sure the exact makeup of my Crazy 8s squad but I know Juno Maarek and someone will be having a good time.

Hard to argue with Carnor Jax.

Note that you can flip that card ANYWHERE, range be damned.

Hard to argue with Carnor Jax.

Why? Is he like...a really good arguer or something? :P
