Affordable x-wing expansions

By theundead, in X-Wing

Hi everyone,

I currently have a very low budget, but I'm interested in buying a few more expansions, for the cheapest price possible.

The cheapest I have found is $19.99 for a large expansion and $9.99 for a small one, on coolstuffinc.

Does anyone know about anything cheaper?

thanks,

-TU

Amazon almost always has them on-sale, but I don't think you're gonna get much better for that small ship price though.

The lowest I've ever seen is $7 and $15.

Miniaturemarket.com also has those prices.

If you're going to play at a FLGS .. support them by buying an expansion or four when you're there. I know they're more expensive but it's the right thing to do if you use their space.

Try E Bay. Perhaps.some cards will be missing, but if your goal is to purchase ships, it is usually ok. I have no e bay ships, but my friends are on it

+YwingAce where did you see $15 for a large expansion?

Sadly, there aren't any local game stores near me.

I've checked all of the websites you guys suggested, but none of them offer below $9.99/$19.99 for an unopened package.

I've also heard that sometimes there are buy 1 get 1 free sales. When do those happen?

Any other ideas?

thanks,

-TU

Find someone local selling their stuff. That's it for cheaper.

The problem with that is that I'm the only one I know in my area that owns x-wing.

Sure, I sometimes play with friends, but they use my miniatures, and I don't think anyone who lives somewhat near me owns x-wing, much less is willing to sell it.

So, the question remains; any other ideas?

thanks,

-TU

If you can't find someone local, buy from someone online.

Other then that, there is no cheaper options than the prices you listed in you original post.

Try Ebay plus PayPal. If you are low budget, this your number one and number two best options. Last month one member of my game group bought some X and Y ... Not.brand new, tokens missing, etc. Buy they were complete minis and quite cheap.

You can't be very selective, but there are good.options out there

Cool stuff Inc is having a May the 4th sale. It's not a great sale, but they have falcons listed for about $18. free shipping if you spend $100!

But yeah...this game is pretty hot right now so unless you get lucky and find someone who undervalues their collection or find pieces in a weird place like a yard sale or thrift store, $9.99/ea is the consistently cheapest price.

I don't like buying used things, but thanks for the offer. What about sales such as "buy 1 get 1 free?"

thanks,

Once in a blue moon, MiniatureMarket has ships as their deal of the day for $7. But it's not a dependable way to expand your fleet

I've seen Miniature Market have "buy one VT-49 or Outrider and get the other free", but that's it. I've really only seen the $10 / $20 as the lowest, and I'm a bargain hunter.

I think rollforcrit.com has xpacs for 8.99. I'm not sure on their shipping though. Unless you find the random deal one of these websites is the best you'll do. I'm waiting for one of those random deals for the Epic ships but who knows if or when that'll happen.

I just checked out rollforcrit. They do have many expansions for less than $9.99/$19.99, but most of them are out of stock. Does anyone know about online stores that have buy 1 get 1 free sales?

thanks.

what about trying to increase ones cash flow? I know as a kid a LONG time ago I would pick up returnables to feed my Starfleet battles habit! Also would mow lawns/ wash cars etc.. until i got my first job bagging groceries at a local store. Also some things are money "sinks" like girls/women/ KIDS!!!/cell phones/computers/cars etc.. just figure out what you want and whats really important. As a game X-wing is one of the cheaper ones...

I don't really have time for those types of jobs. For me, x-wing's pretty important. Anyone else know about those buy 1 get 1 free sales?

thanks,

You're persistent!

The $10/small & $20/large prices are in the neighborhood of the lowest consistent pricing. You may find them in a range around there (+/-$1.50). You can find this type of pricing at many sites that have been mentioned above.

I haven't heard of 2-for-1 sales beyond the VT-49/YT-2400 one.

Team Covenant's web store has cardless expansions (they sell card singles and model singles) for a serious discount; if you buy a new expansion, you can cover unique pilot combinations by adding models without the full price of the expansion, but you won't get generic pilots or upgrades (or you can pick and choose from their store and build your collection intentionally that way).

Try TheTracktor.com for price hunting on Amazon- the site has records going back months so you can see what the lowest prices have been.

Otherwise, if you want money, you've got to earn it. The more money you get, the more you can do with it. Perhaps you would benefit from rearranging your life priorities. I haven't tried, but I don't think you can eat X-wings. And if you're really trying to buy cheap, used is the way to go- you'll never find new as cheap as used, and being snooty will cost you $$$. I'm very happy with the $5 used Y-wing expansion I picked up.

what about trying to increase ones cash flow?... some things are money "sinks" like girls/women/ KIDS!!!/cell phones/computers/cars etc.. just figure out what you want and whats really important. As a game X-wing is one of the cheaper ones...

So what you're saying is that if I want more money to spend on X-wing, all I have to do is divorce my wife and give her full custody of our son, get rid of my cell phone, and sell my car?

No, there is selling plasma and doing focus groups. I prefer focus groups. You can get some good hobby cash every now and again. One study paid me $150, which paid for my Imperial Raider and then some! A few others require web surveys for $5-15. I did get $10 for a survey on shower tile or something. That paid for my last Tie Interceptor.

X wing is a cheap game to PLAY if you proxy the upgrade cards, if not, it is hell. Compare this with warhammer and is a cheap one. But purchasing " whistling death " under 60 bucks gives you 24 diferent planes, hundreds of counters and thousands of game hours.

Let's say that this is not an expensive MINIS game. But you must put serious money on the table to play tournament games. Want Juno card? Give me 100 bucks.

If you are low on cash, buy your favourite 4-6 minis, proxy the cards...AND ENJOY

+superdave I don't really have time to work, as I'm doing currently doint my B.A. where can I find that type of sale for a decimator/yt-2400?

another question: I've got 2 core sets, one x wing, one y wing, one imperial aces, one tie interceptor, one shuttle, one e wing, one z95, one hwk, one tie fighter, one b wing expansion packs. What should I get next?

Do you have a side you prefer? Rebels are cheaper to get ships for and build lists. Is there a specific ship that sounds cool? Is there a style of play you prefer?

personally, I generally prefer imperials, but I can't focus too much on one side, as I'm the only one I know at all that owns x wing, and I sometimes invite my friends over to play, but it wouldn't be fair to them if I only have one playable side.

any ideas?

thanks,
