Glyr : Brother Trapbait

I'm very suprised there aren't many responses to this thread. My wife and I played our first Descent game last night and halfway through we came up with our first nickname.

Red Scorpion - Spicy

Our group calls the Fatigue Potions "baby in a bottle"...

Skeletons: Skelington

Master Beastman: Master-Beasters

Troll: Nipples

Blood Ape: We just giggle, no name given.

Only one our group has a nickname for is Blood Apes, which because of their massive hindquarters, earned the nickname "Butt Apes".

1. Potions are generally potatoes in my group.

2. Giants have been bestowed with a nickname "Spandex" (Those trousers!)

3. Skeletons are often mispelled on purpose as skleletons (A kingdom of loathing reference)

4. Not really a nickname, but many bad jokes have been made of Grinding axe, generally revolving around frustrating level-upping in MMORPGs.

5. Oh, fatigue potions are often called "Fatties" too.

6. Sorcerers are Saucers.

7. Hellhounds = Hotdogs.

And the worst last:

8. Someone once said, that Mordrog looks like he's wearing lipstick. He's been called "Tranny" ever since.

I bet there'd be more, but can't remember everything. :P

Heh, our group does something similar. In addition to the "babies in a bottle" (which the Fatigue potion looks like, a little baby in a bottle of formaldehyde) , our group has a lot of fun joking about the "Staff of Punishment" copper treasure. Just waaaay too many adolescent jokes to be made about Landrec punishing his staff...

We've dropped a couple of "Surf Monkeys Must Die" jokes (A reference to the classic film "Surf Nazis Must Die").

Chaos Beasts and Nagas tend to elicit references to certain genres of Anime (I can't wait 'till they actually fight the tentacles in Sea of Blood).

The heroes keep calling my Beastmen "Teddy Bears", mostly because it annoys me.

Master / named monsters are usually referred to as "That @$#!&*".

Finally, Dragons seem to have gotten the name "Oh, Crap".

This thread needs more love.

What are you talking more love? I'm lovin' it just by reading it. I tend you be the Overlord when my group plays but unfortunately we don't paly often enough to have developed any nicknames yet. When we do I'll post 'em.

Tobin = Robin Hood

Brother Glyr = Chuck Norris

The cursed coper staff that does +3 dmg for 2 surges = bazooka

Rapid fire = machine gun

Yeah... My group had some very remarkable and unprintable names for the Blood Apes based on that enlarged and ... "Offered" backside. Let's just say they weren't intimidated when I first put them on the board.

All my Sorcerers are some version of Charles... Charles, Charlie, Chuck, Chas, Chez...

And yes, as soon as the players saw the Blood Apes, remarks of Surfing Monkeys began. They haven't seen a Chaos Beast yet, but I can just imagine it'll be some form of, "what the !@#$%?!"
