About the K-wing and Tie Punisher...

By Chris R, in X-Wing

What about these ships are you guys most excited about? The Extra Munitions card? Plasma Torpedoes? Adv. Homing Missiles? Twin Laser Turrets? The Slam action? One of the new Bombs? Or one of the two ships themselves?

What are you most excited to try with it? What combos are you most excited to try out?

Personally it opens up so many options that I can't really seem to make up my mind what I want to try first.

Considering we don't actually know what most of it does yet it's a bit early to say.

I'm gonna be getting both, for different reasons. Through punisher for pure ordnance shenanigans, and the k-wing I think is going to become a late game centerpiece. Using the slam action in conjunction with Miranda's ability makes for hit and run tactics and healing independent from any other game mechanic.

Hoping the purchase of one Punisher will get me some upgrades that makes my Bombers better and hence back on the table.

Plasma Torpedoes personally if they are designed to bust shields like in the books, The K-wing in general

My speculation about advanced homing torpedoes is they will be like a ranged autoblaster and effect the targets defense dice, either forcing them to be rerolled or ignoring them

Laser turrets will depend on what they do, I was excited for the blaster and autoblaster turrets until they were actually released

I'm looking forward to finding out what the Bombardier crew card brings to the party, and how the Cluster mines work; i.e do they detonate individually or do they allow multiple rolls on the attack dice.

Cheers

Right now I am most curious to see what the "twin ion engine whatever" card does. Whether I stay excited about it depends on which TIEs it actually effects and how. I am also excited to know what kind of damage each cluster mine template does.

Bombardier is a crew lets you drop bombs with the 2-straight template. There is a possibility that you may be able to use another template as well, but it is unlikely.

With Cluster mines, you drop all 3 templates at once like a proximity mine and then each template detonates individually, but, like I mentioned above, we don't yet know how much damage they do.

I do find it disappointing we will only get one set of cluster mine tokens despite the fact that Extra Munitions will make it so that every ship that can take them would be able to drop two.

Yeah, but it was pretty much unavoidable. The cluster mine tokens are so big that including a second set provably would have necessitated bumping the packaging (and price) up to large ship size.

I don't really expect it to be a big problem very often.

I am most excited to see what the connar net does in game

I am most excited to see what the Conner net does in game

What he said. +1

Though I must admit I am a little bit surprised that none of the K-Wing or Punisher pilots have EPT slots. Ordnance is hard enough to sell as it is, then they go and take away one of the few things that can make them slightly more playable i.e. PTL, Predator etc.

hopefully the new unrevealed missiles and bombs are viable otherwise this seems like a wasted opportunity to correct a poorly performing element of the game

The upgrades I can use with other ships.

EVERYTHING!!!!

Lol seriously there is nothing I have seen of wave seven that doesn't make me tingle with anticipatory excitement!! I am so hyped I can't contain myself!! Even the rebel ship excited me and usually I am pretty meh about rebel stuff. (Cuz you know... Rebel scum and what not :P )

I am curious if the lack of ept is because of the crew slot. Maybe bombardier makes it so that if you are using ordnance you don't need the action economy of PTL or other EPTs?

Pretty much what he said.

I really love the K-wing. Looks like a cross between a WWII bomber and a A-10 but in space so the poor airodynamics mean squat

I'll say this much - there's a lot of upgrades in both of these expansions I'm interested in.

About the K-wing and Tie Punisher Interdictor*

This has been a public service announce brought to you by the Imperial Committee of Craft Recognition (ICCR)

I will probably get one of each, just for the sake of completion. Personally, I find both ships aesthetically...meh, if not outright fugly. I will probably use them both as reinforcements for bomber formations, mostly in Epic play. As for the cards, I am not really sure if they will have the effect we were looking for as far as fixing ordnance. Guess I'll just have to wait and see. Really, I just want my Imperial Raider and TIE Advanced X-1 upgrades.

I like the K-wing. It's what turrets in this game should be in terms of priority.

the K-wing is, in order of priority:

1.) a slamming, jamming bomber

2.) a potential ordinance bot

3.) A ship very much concerned with its facing and postioning

...

after running out of ****.) then it's a turret

I'm getting all the stuffs....probably two of everything

As has been pointed out already, you can ready half the card in the preview and Bombardier is (unsurprisingly) Bomb related.

I'm mostly interested in the TIE only upgrade in the Punisher. Here's hoping it's gives the Defender a shot in the arm.

Can't wait to make debris clouds out of K-Wings and a paperweight out of the Hound's Tooth.

I'm psyched for two of all the small ships and a new large one that reeks of three day old wookie.

I want to see what the K-something scum shop does. I may need a third.

I'm almost positive that the K-wing lacks ept for. fears of S.L.A.M (the opposite of why we don't get EH shuttles :()

also could be that FFG doesn't want another stupid turret, and even the 2-die primary isn't enough assurance for them :P (the PS 8 can, after, get it up to 3 dice)

I love the way the K-wing and TIE Punisher models look. They turned out very well. I'm mostly focusing on Scum now, so I probably won't buy either, but if I had some extra money I think I'd pick up one of each. Alternatively, I wouldn't turn down the K-wing or TIE Punisher as a gift. But I would never fly them. I'd just set them up on my shelf and admire how beautiful they are ... in a utilitarian sort of way.
