Release Update...

By luther2, in Rogue Trader

FFG updated their Upcoming calendar. Apparently, some Rogue Trader has finally managed to return from the Expanse with his holds full of precious tomes and is due to drop out of warp any day now, so we should see the RT book soon... gran_risa.gif

Do you mean where it says "On the Boat"? I think that still means it's quite a ways off... llorando.gif

*buys a house boat* Look FFG! I'm on the water, your on the water! Just drop it off, I'm right on the way there! Honest! cool.gif

A houseboat, what a rocking idea...

Amazon just informed me that I can now expect it October 30th. I guess I won't be playing until November.

You see, this is why I ordered from The Warstore instead, even though it cost me about $10 more. I have always recieved my order from them on time and in good condition with a flat $5 shipping rate. In fact, I should be recieving RT at my door the day of release. And their service is top notch and personal.

With Amazon, I've heard nothing but complaints and seen nothing but delays and endlessly shifting dates. And from what I've been told, their customer service is one of the worst in the business.

Is all that hassle really worth the extra $10 you save...?

So wait... when are you going to get it from the war store? A lot earlier than Oct. 30th? sorpresa.gif

They have a late september release. And judging from the 'On the Boat' status of the book, I'd say they'll be meeting that deadline. Not only that, but they'll ship the book out so that it gets to my door on the day of release.

Well I placed an order with Amazon last month and today they gave me an update of Nov 4th. They asked if it was cool; I said what the heck. I'll get it when I get it. I am sure with the post here I can fill in most of the gaps of the main book.

I am patient, and yet I can assure you that there is NO way that FFG does not know when the EXACT date of release is to be. If they do not know, then someone in FFG needs to go to Community College and pick up some basic business courses. There are going to be unexpected delays, but in this case, I do not think that is the answer. If it is, then I stand corrected. But I just do not see that as the answer.

In my experience, Amazon has not shipped any FFG/DH books until around 4-6 weeks after I have seen them in my FLGS.

Amazon is the worst for the DH books. I preordered the last 5 books months before they were out, and never got the book sooner than I could get at my local gaming store. Most of the time they were only a week late, but I suspect that was only because I was at the head of the list. Some Amazon customers have had much worse issues. I don't recommend Amazon for these sorts of books. This comes from a guy who orders hundreds of dollars of books from Amazon a year....

Ever since I discover my local store had a discount on preorders that tended to match/beat the Amazon price. I've been happily preordering RPG books from them. (Which reminds me I need to pick up Giest.)

Well crud... forget Amazon then. sad.gif

When should I expect FLGS to get RT? gran_risa.gif

My guess would be 3-4 weeks, but as they say, there's many a slip twixt the cup and the lip...

I am in a similar boat but I'll stick up for Amazon, only FFG books have ever been a problem and I am a regular Amazon customer.

Crud... so I'm gonna have to wait a long time from any place. llorando.gif llorando.gif

Oh well at least I got a neat Endevour out of it: "Get a copy of Rogue Trader." gui%C3%B1o.gif

Ok, so I emailed that guy who has Rogue Trader up on ebay... was hoping he had copies in hand. gui%C3%B1o.gif Here's what he said:

"It is actually a preorder! It will be here in the first week of October! The boats are coming in with the books and they are waiting till all the containers get here to ship them out. We are looking at an early October shipping date!"

So that answers a few questions! Was that so hard FFG? gui%C3%B1o.gif

Just spoke to FFG customer services (well emailed) and it should be at the warehouse by the end of the month, shipping from there...

Trying to scratch out how long it will take to arrive in the uk from then but trying to get a definite release date is like pulling teeth

They have been known to experience all sorts of delays until the books get to their warehouse - containers held up in port, containers held up in customs, containers arriving on the wrong side of the country (and going the long way round)... all stuff out of their control.

True that. The last strategy guide for Monsterpocalypse got help up by american Homeland Security for a really long time... still trying to figure that one out. sorpresa.gif

What did you expect? Compare 9/11 to the number of skyscrapers torn down during a single game of Monsterpocalypse. That strategy guide is basically a Terrorist's How-To. Admittedly, the terrorist would have to have Godzilla, Cthulhu and some aliens at his disposal, but let's not get held up with insignificant details!

So gamer guy gets a job with Homeland Security, its his turn at the docks that day, going over manifests he finds that a Monsterpocalypse expansion that he hasn't seen yet is coming in that day, him and his friends, bored to tears with all the waiting decides to impound a few boxs for investigative purposes, simple, would any of us not do that with Rogue Trader?

:(
