RT Careers

By Kerrahn, in Rogue Trader

Just a question to designers or anyone who owns the book (still waiting for that release date...), do Careers in Rogue Trader follow in Dark Heresy's footsteps with several 'paths' available to characters once they reach a certain rank, or is it following a more linear basis this time round (in the same manner most other RPGs, like D&D, do)?

Thanks in advance

The book presents each career as one linear path. Between skill/talent options and future releases, there should be plenty of variety.

Thanks for the reply, but now I have another question not related to the first.

In Forsaken Bounty, the characters had 'Special Abilities', like Trask's Commanding Presence and Lorayne's Weapon Master.

Does every character get to choose a special ability, is it a pre-set ability according to their Career, or were these just something given to the Forsaken Bounty characters?

That's something I'd like to know too.

They're definitely in the game.
I'm not quite sure, but I think I've heard there were several different ones you can choose from.

Each career path has a special ability detailed at the end of the section. For some, there is one special ability. For others (arch-militant), its one ability but they can choose it's exact nature (which weapon you specialize in). For the void master, they choose one ability of four. The missionary gets some extra talents.

/can't remember the rest.
