Who would prefer Boba Fett's and Kath's pilot abilities were switched?

By bmwrider, in X-Wing

I have loved Boba Fett since I was a child and have been so disappointed with both his pilot cards, I just wanted love flying Boba Fett and his infamous Slave 1 (with or without title)

Does anyone think his pilot card is the best choice in either faction?

It just seems like Kath is better for Scum and Krassis is better in Imp, is it just me or does that suck thematically speaking?

Personally, I'm a big fan of his Imperial pilot ability.

I'm still baffled by people who dislike his scum ability. It's sooo good.

I am in no way dissapointed with either of his abilities, as I've made good use of both.

Kath takes less subtlety, sort of, but Fett. He's just an absolute beast when played well.

Before Phantoms and Interceptors became minor deities Imperial Fett was bad. But vet Instincts Fettigator is pretty great at killing them.

And The Scum version.

Recon specialist(until Glitterstim hits) and you're good to go. Get him up there in their face and tank that fire. Then sweep in and mess them up with your other ships while Fett hops the enemy and flanks.

I second that!!! The scum Boba is AWESOME!!! I've used him and that ability with great success!!!

Just wait until he gets glitterstims. It looks real good to me.

And emon looks good with the slave 1 title and extra munitions and k4.

So then please share the build and strategy for him so I can enjoy my favorite star wars villain

Force a joust.

Blitz from out of range to range 1. Blast something important hard while the rest of your fleet is at range 2-3. Let Fett take the fire. Pop over the enemy fleet. Pincer them with your rear arc and block their K-turn pursuit of Fett if they try it.

Works best with extremely talented but cheap teamates.

3-4 filler ships should work. I can't quite get what I want(a capable Advanced Sensor Virago and Two Z-95's, but there are other options.)

Nope. Imperial Fett's ability would be aweful at lower PS and it's already pretty bad. Imperial Kath's has some new life with mangler but isn't great to start. Fat Bottom Kath sounds infinitely better than fat bottom boba.

Unless your up against two ship meta, Imp boba really works great (tweak him with engine upgrade). His ability to switch his directions in a flash and then boost reallyed helped me last time I played him. (Ended up winning that game.)

In a vacuum? Maybe... but the fact is that Scum Boba's high PS coupled with VI & EU makes his ability very potent and difficult to deny with little investment.

I've flown Scum Boba more than 30 times now, usually alongside Kath; and believe me - Scum Boba is a force even with minimal upgrades (IMO the best way to run him). Not sure I can say the same about Kath despite her seemingly superior ability.

Boba Fett, VI, Gunner, Engine is my favourite build.

I heartily agree that scum bobas ability is superior to Kaths. I would be so upset if they had been reversed. Kath is situational and while I will admit very good it isn't on the same level as Bobas (which I am aware is also situational)

He can be good bare but I love making him fat as hell ^_^ once glitterstim comes out he is going to be even more insane. I've been testing him with glitterstim and cluster missiles and it makes for a ridiculous alpha strike with almost no return damage.

Previous posters have mentioned good tactics for flying him. Get up in their face, get range one, try to dodge a bit/ram into some to mitigate return fire, and go to town. The loss of action for bumping isn't even that big of a deal thanks to the rerolls.

I have had fun with boba Emon as well as fat boba skinny kath. All the scum fires prays are fun and have good abilities but far and away my favorite is boba. I honestly have no clue why so many people seem to think his ability is bad!

As a side note, while i have reservations on how well Extra Munitions will work overall, it'll turn Scum Boba into a monster. ClusterM + Seismic Charge + EM is only 8 pts. Charge into R1, Cluster missile some fools, next turn drop your bomb and move 2 forward, and your opponent has to decide on whether he wants to kturn and eat a bomb AND a rear arc attack, or try to clear the bomb and STILL probably take a 3 dice attack. Then you get to repeat after you turn around yourself. Good times. Back him up with a pair of either ion cannon scyks with HU or HLC for sheer pain.

Its hard to use correctly. On games where you're not doing it right (such as flying away from targets at R2, it really seems to suck.)

Haha that's exactly what I have been waiting for Bipolar! I can't wait to try that in a tourney ^_^

Blail you are right there. If you get stuck leading them at R3 and can't get out of arcs it can hurt. That's why I have been enjoying running him with expert handling. The barrel rolling is really good for both dodging some arcs as well as repositioning back into R1 for the rerolls. Engine plus expert feels so good. Having the option of boost and BR on large base Ships just feels wonderful.

I'd rather fly Kath because her Firespray looks cooler (though it's the only one I have yet to paint...just need that fourth FS...)

Haha that reason has my full approval and support ^_^

Then you clearly have not seen the Scum build:

Fett

RecSpec

AB

ID

EU

PtL/Predator/Lone Wolf

Ion Torps are optional (and work well with PtL)

Fly Fett straight into the face of the enemy and nail them at range one with AB. Use ID to hold a good position.
