No skills cards for heroes in Crusade of the forgotten?

By bebop89, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi, I'm really new to Descent and yesterday I bought the expansion Lair of the Wyrm and the pack Crusade of the forgotten.

In Lair of the Wyrm, for the heroes, I have a set of skill cards like in the box of Journey in the dark. But in the pack of crusade, there's only the 4 characters sheets...

Which skills do I use? I choose a pack of skill cards from another character with the same archetype?

Thx

ya Characters and classes are different. Any Scout Character (green) can choose any scout class (the green decks)

If you have everything there are 6 scout classes. So there would be 6 different ways to play any scout character.

The Hero and Monster Packs only have Heroes and Monsters I believe. The class cards are only in the Box sets like Lair, Trollfens and Ravens. There are also classes in the big boxed sets (Shadow of Nerkenhall and Labrynth of Ruin.)

Yes, A hero can be any class that matches his archetype.

Big Box: contains 1 campaign, 4 Heroes and 4 classes

Small Box: contains 1 mini campaign (which can be added to a campaign in the form of rumor quests), 2 heroes, and 2 classes

Hero & Monster Pack: contains 2 rumor quests, 4 heroes,

Lieutenant Pack: contains 1 plot deck for the overlord.

But as stated by others above, any archetype can play any class that belongs to it's archetype

Like Kage13 said, characters and classes are different things. While the characters in the box sets may have been made with the class in the same box in mind, they are in no way tied to each other - you could have High Mage Quellen use the Runemaster class, or the Necromancer class; he doesn't have to be a Geomancer. On the same note, both Widow Tarha and Leoric of the Book could use the Geomancer class.

All that matters is that the class you choose for a character matches the character's archetype.

All the original Conversion Kit characters were the same as the new hero packs (and, really, the new hero packs are just remakes of the conversion kit stuff, with updated art, a few tweaked abilities, and some extra quests).

So the four heroes from the Crusade pack could use any of the 2 or 3 classes from the base game + Lair of the Wyrm. If you get Labyrinth of Ruin, Trollfens, Shadow of Nerekhall, and Manor of Ravens, you'll have 5 or 6 classes to choose from for any given character.

Thank you all for your answers...

I must say I'm a bit disappointed by what I have in the box of Lair of the Wyrm vs Crusade pack vs the $$$...

I'm I the only one??

The hero and monster packs offer different things than the small box expansions- it all depends what it is you value in the game. Small boxes give you more campaign content (4 or 5 rumor quests as opposed to 2, including the option to play it as a mini campaign), Overlord content in the form of a deck, and hero content in the form of classes. However, they provide less heroes and monsters than the hero and monster packs, which seem primarily designed to re-release content from the first edition, with updated art, minis, and sometimes stats.

I personally value classes (both hero and OL) more than almost anything else in the game in terms of content, so I prefer the box expansions.

Well, considering that I have the first edition stuff and the conversion kit, I have almost no desire for the hero/monster kits. The only thing about them that I wish I had was the quests and rumor cards, but those alone aren't worth the money for the set.

Reading about the product, and understanding what you're buying, it's use in the game and what it introduces will aid one in dealing with being 'disappointed' by purchases they make.

Maybe I just obsess about these things.

Further more, are you saying that you don't find the value in cards/rules/tiles vs the value in plastic figures?

I think whats introduced in a small box expansion vs the Hero Monster Collections is very reasonable.
