X-Wing Regionals 2015! What Are The Lists To Beat?

By Tsiegtiez, in X-Wing

I played Dash/Corran throughout store champs. Having practiced quite a bit against autothrusters I have moved away since wave 6 launch. The obstacles might help make up some of that gap, but I doubt Dash/Corran will be a big contender in regionals.

I kind of feel like Dash/something should be notable in the regionals, at least these regionals, just because three big debris fields are going to throw people off their game in some way. Maybe it's only enough for some cheap wins in Swiss, I don't know, but it seems like people aren't going to have a good handle on how to fly around them, and Dash just does not care one bit.

Autothrusters has actually helped Dash indirectly more than it hurt him, because it's been driving out the 2 ships that prey on Dash, Chiraneau and Han, and made good match-ups for Dash more popular like BBBBZ and Brobots. The addition of Debris Clouds have also been a huge boon to Dash, possibly to the exclusion of every other ship in the game, since I am now hearing a lot of top level players saying "don't bring Debris if you're not playing Dash, because you'll just be helping the Dash players".

The Phantom nerf also removed a big predator of Dash from the ecosystem in that Phantoms are mechanically unable to stop Dash from creating distance between them since he gets to reposition after he's seen them decloak.

Soontir and Carnor are still a big problem for Dash, which is why I've kept PS 10 Corran as Dash's partner even through the Phantom nerf, although Corran's inability to joust definitely makes him a liability in a lot of match-ups, but those are match-ups where Dash is at his best.

Just finally ordered a CR-90 for my son's birthday. (I almost feel bad about using it as an excuse to buy X-wing stuff but he always wants to play epic games) Besides Fat Han, is there any other top tier list that becomes available with the Tantive expanansion?

Asked in a different thread but it is getting buried. Any thoughts on 4xDaggers with Enhanced Scopes? Losing the Z hurts but I think it would murder other Rebel swarms instead of putting your hopes on a coin flip. Better pilot should still win more often but initiative is huge in mirror matches.

Well, I'll be honest: I think you're asking for objective input in the wrong place. Because I think that makes you the best dad of ever.

Other than Fat Han, well, I can't think of anything from the Tantive IV that will make you a competitive list.

As for Enhanced Scopes on the Daggers, I think that's an excellent list, but depending on how you want to fly, you might instead consider dropping them all down to Blues to squeeze an Intelligence Agent in each cockpit. If you think the PS4 in the Combat phase is more important, keep the Daggers, but I would generally prefer to use the Int Agents to look at up to four dials and Barrel Roll / bump more effectively.

I don't think RAC will be going anywhere.

Tarn Mison!

Comes with the transport!

Live stream of regionals all day.

Looking forward to this. When will it go live?

Madrid (Spain) regional is right now on the Top8, with these surviving lists:

Corran-Han vs Brobots
Corran-Chewie vs BBBBZ
BBBBZ vs BBBB with SCD and Intel
Fel-Decimator vs Fel-Decimator

Full results and lists should be published tonight or tomorrow. It was a 110 player tournament.

EDIT: Finals starting. Brobots vs Fel-Chiraneau.

EDIT2: Brobots for the win. Now to wait until they upload everything somewhere for the results thread.

Tarn Mison!

Comes with the transport!

D'oh! Of course. Misread his post.

I feel like Fel/Decimator and Brobots are going to be incredibly common this season. How's everyone planning to counter them? I'm of a mind to bring a lot more guns, more ships than I've ever used competitively before.

Paul's list from today:

Biggs

2X Blue's w/E2 and tactician

Goldie w/title ion r3a2.

He's cleaning up pretty well.

Witch version of brobots? :)

For regionals, I was thinking of running an anti-meta build:

Chewbacca (42)

Predator (3)

C-3PO (3)

MF title (1)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Tarn Mison (23)

R7 Astromech (2)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

Total: 100

Basically running three super-resilient ships. The B-Wing is a jab, Tarn is really survivable given that he screws with your opponent's dice while on a 3 attack ship himself. Chewbacca gets around RAC's crit abilities, also canceling two of his 3 attack dice a turn while fling 3 back at him should bring him down. He's also a fat turret with Predator, so lower PS swarms and Han's fodder will be torn up easily. Engine upgrade on Chewbacca so he can block/dodge arcs. The only thing I dislike about Chewie is that he's at PS5 so he runs the risk of getting blown up in the late game when PS really counts.

I was also considering Dark Forces Chewbacca:

Chewbacca (42)

Push the Limit (3)

Kyle Ktarn (3)

Jan Ors (2)

Engine Upgrade (4)

MF title (1)

This clocks him in at 55 points, so I'd have to drop Tarn to another B-Wing. But with this set up I can potentially get 2 evade tokens and a focus token each turn. The only thing I don't like is that he runs the potential of getting double stressed from Tacticians and R3-A2, or if I choose to fire at a Rebel Captive after pushing. Still not sure about this set up, I think it's a bit too tricky, but I'll be play testing as much as I can with Chewie because I feel like he's a solid rock against the meta.
