Has anyone tried this match up?
I worry that soontir and tie dial could be unfair BUT the M3s can take cannons to the fight.
So do you think this 3 on 3 would be fun and ballanced?

No.
The bigger question is, do you and your opponent think it's fun and balanced?
If yes, then get to playing and have fun!
If no, then back to the drawing board.
It'd only be balanced if you used lower-tier INTs. Soontir, Phennir, and Jax vs. Serissu, Laetin, and a Point Veteran would be a massacre in favor of the Imperials.
Now Laetin and a pair of Veterans vs. Kir Kanos, Lt. Lorrir, and Tetran Cowell... that might be fun to watch.
depends on how they are loaded and what pilots.. but yeah sounds like fun to me.. also don't waste to many points on HLCs for the M3s.. The mangler is the one to get!! IMHO...
Named int's would slaughter them tbh, scyk has a good dial but cepters have a great dial and even basic generics theres a massive points difference.
It might be fun if you ran 5 Alphas with Autothrusters against 5 Cartel Spacers with Mangler Cannons (or 3 vs. 3 for a 60 point game).
Edited by WWHSDhmm if you were to dump 100 points into 3 of each then i would stuff the HLCs on to the M3s.
I think it could be interesting, but again it does depend on the pilots. If you limited it to PS7 and below, it could be a fun match, I think. With named TIE Interceptors though, I think the Scyks would get massacred.
Edited by NightshrikeThe cannons may not make enough difference to ballance the game.
I may try it with my buddy and take the under dog because it was my idea.
Edited by bmwriderIf you balance the points, then theoretically. However, it's not likely a balanced game.
In fact, if you build so that all ships are identical, I see the Scyks only having an advantage at 23 points per ship: when they can afford Heavy Lasers, and the opponent cannot yet afford Push the Limit.
At 22 points or fewer, you're playing Mangler Cannons against ships with higher PS and/or better modifications, who are more mobile and still throw 3 dice attacks, while having identical survivability (except they beat you so badly on arc-dodging).
At 24 points or more, you're playing HLCs into ships with Push the Limit, PS advantage, modification advantage, and greater mobility. A closer fight, aye, but the TIE Interceptor player's used to the match-up vs HLC B-Wings, and knows how to dodge.
I think 3 scyks vs 3 a-wings would be more interesting, also maybe more fair. You can also kit them out to be rough equivalents of each other.
